Travelling to the Malverns by Road

Malvern is on the A449 trunk route from Worcester to Ross on Wye. Travelling from the North on the M5 motorway, visitors should exit at Junction 7 and follow the signs to Malvern. Travelling from the South on the M5, visitors should exit at Junction 8 onto the M50 motorway and then after a very short distance take Junction 1 signposted to the Malverns following the A38 to Upton Upon Severn and then the B4211 into Malvern.

Upton upon Severn is located on the West side of the River Severn, just off the A38 Worcester to Tewkesbury road. Travelling from the North, follow the directions above but turn off left onto the A38 through the village of Kempsey, heading towards Tewkesbury.

Tenbury Wells is located on the A456. From Worcester, take the A433 road on the West side of the River Severn.

Travel by Rail

Malvern is fortunate to have 2 rail stations on the Worcester to Hereford line: in the centre of Great Malvern and in Malvern Link. Both stations have direct trains to Worcester, Hereford, Birmingham, Bristol, Oxford and London.

Local Bus Services

Both Malvern and Upton are served by a variety of local bus services as shown on the Malvern Bus Services Map. The 42 service provides local transport around Malvern. The 44 service also provides local transport around Malvern and from Malvern into Worcester. The 362/363/364 services provide local transport around Malvern and connect Malvern to Upton and Upton to Worcester with the 363 serving Hanley Swan (including the Three Counties Showground) and the 362 (364 on Friday and Saturday evenings) Upper Welland and Kempsey. The 675 service connects Great Malvern to Colwall and Ledbury via North and West Malvern and the Wyche Cutting.

Upton TIC is the local agent for National Express Coaches and can organise ticket reservations and alterations for you. In Malvern, the National Express agent is Thomson Travel, 73-77 Church Street, tel. 0845 071 3363. All TICs can help with bus and coach enquiries.

Car and Bike Hire

The local car rental company in Malvern is Brookhire Vehicle Rentals (01684 572314) on Spring Lane. Enterprise Rent-a-Car also have an office in Malvern on Spring Lane North (01684 580370) and offer a 10% reduction if you mention this website when making your booking.
