Children, families and adults alike are being encouraged to enjoy the great outdoors with Malvern Hills District Council’s Photoboxing challenge.
Launching tomorrow (5 August), Photoboxing is a temporary replacement for the popular Letterboxing project which is a family and adult fun form of orienteering. The challenge will be available until the end of September.
Due to coronavirus, this year there will be no physical boxes to find, but instead participants need to take photographs of the answers to the clues and send them in to the council to win a badge.
There are 25 clues to solve in total, scattered over five different walks across the district and each walk has five clues to solve. All of the five walks have been mapped out already so there is no need to plan the route.
To take part, participants need to buy the latest clue pack for £3 per person and the instructions and map for each walk can be downloaded from the council website.
Malvern Hills District Council will be running a number of guided walks for small groups on each of the five Photoboxing routes throughout August. The walks will be held on the following dates and MUST be pre-booked:
- Tuesday 11 August at 2pm (Hanley Swan walk).
- Thursday 13 August at 2pm (Smith End Green)
- Tuesday 25 August at 2pm (Around Worcestershire Beacon)
- Wednesday 26 August at 2pm (Madresfield walk).
All walks will follow social distancing guidelines.
Rachel Nicholls, Physical Activity and Wellbeing Officer at Malvern Hills District Council, said: “We are excited to launch a new version of our popular orienteering challenge, Photoboxing. This is a great opportunity for residents and visitors to enjoy the beautiful district whilst getting active”.
