The organisers of Malvern Pride have announced that Malvern Pride will return to Priory Park this July. After an incredibly successful first Pride in 2019, the committee were gearing up to host their second festival in 2020, but sadly the event couldn’t go ahead for the following two years due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

As you may remember, Malvern’s first Pride in July 2019 was a lovely community event attended by all age groups which filled Malvern with colour and happiness both on the day and in the run up to the party in the park. We were told that no recent event in Priory Park had attracted so many visitors estimates put attendance in excess of 800.

In 2022 Malvern Pride will be rising phoenix-like from the ashes and take place in Priory Park, Great Malvern, on Saturday 30th July. We hope to recreate the same joyful atmosphere and to draw an even bigger crowd than last time.

Sean from Malvern Pride said “Not only will Malvern Pride resend the important message of acceptance and inclusion to the local LGBT+ community who like everyone, have been isolated by the pandemic for the last two years, it will also help to bring visitors from outside Malvern. In 2019 there were so many former Malvern residents who came to see their old hometown celebrate its diversity in a way that would have been unimaginable when they were growing up here 30, 40, 50 years ago. It did the town great credit and made us very proud of the place we live and work in.”

A full program of family friendly entertainment is already lined up for the event, which will run from 12pm to 6pm. There will be a range of stalls from food trucks to local businesses, with plenty for the kids too, including arts & craft activities. Organisers have been promoting the community theme by working with local businesses, artists and groups in Malvern, including support from Malvern Town Council, Malvern Hills District Council, and Worcestershire County Council.

Applications for sponsorship, trade stands or performers are still being welcomed. If you are a local entertainer, business or group Malvern Pride is still accepting acts and sponsors for the event.
