Exciting plans are being developed to revamp the Great Malvern Farmers’ Market.
The regular market usually takes place every third Saturday in the month and has proved popular with residents and visitors looking to buy local produce since it moved to Abbey Road in 2000.
However, in recent times the market has attracted fewer traders and with Worcestershire Farmers Markets Group ceasing to exist in its current format, there is an opportunity to revitalise it.
With the support of the Farmers Markets Group, Malvern Hills District Council is now working with Boffy Arts and Events – which helps run the popular Great Malvern Food Festival and the Arts Markets in the Priory Grounds – to breathe new life into the regular farmers market.
Plans are still in the early stages of development but it is hoped to relaunch the market in April on Easter Saturday (20 April 2019).
Being able to buy fresh, locally produced food is increasingly important as we become more aware of the impact food production has on our environment. The Malverns and its surrounding area has some wonderful food and drink producers and this is a great opportunity to revitalise the farmers market to help support them in offering their products to the public.
