Enjoy a family day out in the picturesque riverside town of Upton upon Severn this summer.
You can take the children for a walk along the riverside, including to the ancient flood meadows at Upton Ham – a Site of Special Scientific Interest due to the rare species of flora and fauna it contains. It is one of the oldest Lammas meadows in the country. Look out for meadow saffron, water drop-wart, as well as plenty of birds and butterflies.
If you would like to take the children out onto the river, you can book a leisure boat trip from Upton Marina with Severn Expeditions. You can book a skipper, or opt for a self-drive cruise for either a whole day or half-day trip.
After stopping lunch in one of the many pubs, restaurants or cafes, you can browse the independent shops, including Ginger and Pickles Traditional Toy Shop on New Street and the Severn Wheels Model Shop at the bottom of Old Street to find a toy, game or model for your children to take to play with home.
After browsing the shops, head to the Upton play area behind New Street, which was redeveloped by Upton Town Council in 2018. The new play area includes a range of new play equipment, a skate park and tennis courts. Find out more about Upton Play Area by clicking here.
If you want to stay for longer than just the day, there’s plenty of things to see and do right on the doorstep, from walking up the majestic Malvern Hills, visiting the animals at Clive’s Fruit Farm, having fun at the adventure playground at Eastnor Castle or at The Great Worcester Maze and more!!!
There’s plenty of accommodation options, from glamping and campsites with many located at country pubs only a few miles outside the town. There are various hotels, inn’s and B&B’s which have opened their doors to welcome visitors once again with new safety measures in place and we have an array of self-catering places to stay.
