Don’t miss out!
The 17th annual Malvern Walking Festival will take place from Saturday 28 May to Sunday 5 June 2022. Booking was opened on 1 January 2022 and now over 90% of the walks have been sold – so if you fancy joining in, book soon to avoid disappointment !
All the walks take place in and around the Malvern Hills – an area officially designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – and some a bit further afield in Worcestershire and Herefordshire.
The Walking Festival website, www.malvernwalking.uk, shows all the walks over the 9 days, and highlights where spaces are still available.
Many multi-day walks, all day walks and shorter half day jaunts have sold out; a lot are themed covering heritage, farming, music in general & Elgar in particular, history & art, geology, nature and gardens plus a couple of walks dedicated to beer and breweries! But there are still walks available to book!
Each walk is graded from Gentle to Strenuous so no-one need let themselves in for more (or less) than they can handle. The 2 most strenuous walks will be the “popular” 19 mile Malvern Hills End-to-end and back, and the 31 mile Worcester Way in a day.
Commenting on the programme, Festival Chairman Bob Baldwin said: “We are delighted to see that the Malvern Walking Festival is proving as popular as ever. 90% of walks were sold out in just 5 days and now 75% have been booked. This just demonstrates the enthusiasm the public have to stay fit & healthy and enjoy the wonderful Worcestershire countryside. After all the Covid restrictions over the past couple of years, our Walking Festival creates the perfect opportunity for freedom and the chance to meet and socialise with like-minded people and make new friends – something we’ve all missed. For the first time we are pleased to be supporting the Midlands Air Ambulance charity, although of course we sincerely hope we will have no need of their services “
Booking & further information is available on the Festival website: www.malvernwalking.uk or the Malvern Tourist Information Centre at The Lyttelton Well Courtyard, 6 Church St, Malvern WR14 2AY.
