The Amael Piano Trio from Slovenia, founded in 1999, have played at major venues across the globe, including at Carnegie Hall in New York and have achieved outstanding international acclaim. They are one of the most sought-after piano trios in Central/Eastern Europe. Their programme at Great Malvern Priory begins with one of Haydn’s loveliest compositions in this genre and finishes with the Piano Trio by Smetana, a work of great emotional power. Between these two works will be heard a beautiful cameo by Schubert; three short pieces by a Slovenian composer; and Paganini’s ultra-lyrical Cantabile for Violin and Piano. The full programme is:
Haydn Trio in A major Hob XV:18
Schubert Notturno in E flat major D 897
Milko Lazar Three short pieces (written in 2001 for the Amael Piano Trio)
Paganini Cantabile
Smetana Piano Trio in G minor Op 15
