Event Description
The Hills Singers
The Hills Singers, directed by Carol Green, present ‘Rejoice in Summer’ – a collection of celebratory songs from all ages. Each group begins with an Alleluia (Praise the Lord), songs of praise in settings from mediaeval times to today.
We celebrate the natural world, Elizabethan poetry, and human relations. The concert ends with an exuberant spiritual, ‘Every time I feel the Spirit,’ then an equally energetic piece from Mozart, ‘Veni sancte Spiritus’, and to cap it all off the greatest shout of joy from Handel – the Hallelujah Chorus from Messiah. We hope that many in the audience will join in, to share our celebration.
The Malvern Spa Association
MSA’s first new piece of Malvern Water Music for the 21st century will be created with the community by Malvern-based composer Liz Dilnot-Johnson. Liz’s music is featured on BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM and is performed all over the world.
She will create texts and compose three new songs for voice and harp inspired by and telling part of the story of Malvern Water.
Song 1 – Malvinha – will explore some of the folklore attached to Malvern Water.
Song 2 – Bubbling Spring – will be an interactive piece with a soundscape created by the audience.
Song 3 – Water Music – will be asking questions about the future of the Hills, the water, and how the people can play their part in making the most of this natural and health-giving resource.
The proceeds of the concert will be divided between the Hills Singers and the Malvern Spa Association’s Water Music project.
Tickets: £10 – will be available from Malvern Theatres
