Event Description
Walk No: MWF65
Appreciating and Understanding Dame Laura Knight
5 miles; allow 3 hours
Dame Laura Knight (1877-1970) was probably the most famous female impressionist painter of her day. We visit landmarks and locations that have relevance to her frequent visits here in the 1930s and ’40s. We walk up onto the East side of the Hills, centring on Love Lane and St Ann’s Well, stopping to describe her activities further. We’ll discuss and compare current views of her work and relate some of her paintings to today’s actual views.
Please Note: Classed as ‘Easy’ but will include a short but steep(ish) walk up to St Anne’s Well.
