Event Description

Walk No: MWF55
Around the Common with a bit in Reserve
5 miles; allow 2½ hours

Leaving the Plume of Feathers we’ll cross Castlemorton Common towards Little Malvern Priory, joining Hancocks Lane for half a mile until we branch off over a couple of stiles up a gentle incline towards the Priory. 50 yards of uphill roadway brings us to the Priory which has interesting history and can be visited. We turn left immediately after the Priory along a concrete roadway following the contours of the hillside, soon providing extensive cross-country views to the East. A short uphill stretch to a track leads to a further path along the Common hillside to the Gullet road where a diversion to the flooded Gullet Quarry can be made. Leaving the Gullet road Southwards we head across the Common for the Hollybed Meadow Nature Reserve with its wildflower meadows. Leaving the Reserve we follow a lane with a steep incline before emerging onto the Common and a level walk back to the Plume. (4 stiles and several gates.)

Pub should be open before and after.
