Event Description

Walk No: MWF82
Colwall to Great Malvern
8 miles; allow 6 hours

We take the train to Colwall and walk back, initially following field paths to Evendine and then climbing to British Camp where there will be time to stop for refreshments. From there we follow good tracks to Holywell where water bottling has been recorded since 1622. We continue across Wyche Cutting and climb Worcestershire Beacon, the highest point in Worcestershire at 1394 ft (425 metres); magnificent views of the Cotswolds, the Clee Hills and Bredon Hill. We descend and follow the contour round the northern part of the Malvern Hills, finally descending back to the station through the attractive Priory Park.

There are about 5 stiles, all at the start of the walk. The total ascent is 1745 feet (532 metres). Good paths and tracks throughout walk.

Packed lunch required. Cafés at British Camp and Wyche Cutting. Toilets in Great Malvern and at refreshment points.
