Event Description
We meet at Ledbury Train Station and walk through the centre of the ancient market town. From the Tudor Market House, we pass a number of historic buildings in old Ledbury before heading upwards through apple orchards to the foot of scenic Oyster Hill (211m). There we encounter the first of many stiles and enjoy our first break with lovely views to Abberley Hill, Clee Hills, Suckley Hills, Malvern Hills and Hay Bluff.
We descend to Colwall, passing church of St James The Great and head up to the Wyche, before climbing to the highest point of our walk, the Worcestershire Beacon (425m) for outstanding 360 degree views. The fairly steep descent takes us to St Ann’s Well and down to Great Malvern Train Station.
This walk is long, with steep sections; a high level of fitness is needed. Comfortable boots and appropriate clothing as well as waterproofs contribute to a great and satisfying walk. Walking poles for support if desired.
Please bring packed lunch and lots of water. Optional quick stop at Café H2O possible at the Wyche.
