Event Description
Exploring an attractive area of countryside to the west of the Malvern Hills. Hear about an incredible Victorian engineer.
Fairly easy walking, starting with the descent from the Malvern Hills to the village of Colwall which is situated in an area of attractive open fields interspersed with woodland which provides an ideal walking area.
The area has long been associated with the engineer Stephen Ballard, who with very little education, became one of the most successful Victorian railway engineers. He later lived in Colwall and contributed very generously to the village, its residents and the general area.
During the walk some of Ballard’s achievements may be observed.
