Event Description

This is a wonderful, undulating meander in West Malvern and Mathon, crossing over ridges of Silurian limestone and valleys of Silurian shale. We pass Hay Slad Spot, one of the most powerful springs on the hills and an opportunity to fill your bottles with the fantastic spring water that Malvern is justifiably proud of.

Some of the rocks seen near Mathon were formed some 400 million years ago. According to a local author ‘There can be no finer scenery than this, anywhere in England, and the village of Mathon emphasises this with its name which is thought to be derived from an Old English word for treasure or gift’.

This walk is rated Moderate: there are several gentle hills to walk over but two very steep climbs on the return leg.

Bring refreshments, we will stop half-way for a few minutes to enjoy the incredible views and soak up the delightful atmosphere.
