Event Description
Experience stunning views from the Malvern Hills whilst participating in an organised charity walk to help sponsor a guide dog puppy. Join us on Saturday 29 April 2023 for the Mayor’s Peaks Challenge and help to raise vital funds for Guide Dogs.
Participants can choose from two different lengths of walk. For those looking for a challenge, the “end to end” long walk of 15km (6 – 8 hours) takes you over the seventeen peaks of the Malvern Hills. Registration will be in Priory Park in Great Malvern from 8am, with coaches leaving from 8.30am to take walkers to the starting point on the Bromesberrow Estate at the southern end of the Malvern Hills.
The short walk is 7km (3 – 5 hours), taking in the main section of the Malvern Hills and including the highest peak of the hills, the Worcestershire Beacon. Registration for this walk is in Priory Park in Great Malvern from 10.15am until 11.30am and a shuttle bus will take participants to the starting point at British Camp.
Both walks are challenging, and you must ensure that you wear appropriate footwear and clothing and carry adequate food and water for the walk. It is the responsibility of every entrant to ensure they are suitably fit and healthy to undertake the Mayor’s Peaks Challenge.
All entrants will receive an event T-shirt and will be rewarded with a finisher’s medal by the Mayor of Malvern. Walkers are encouraged to bring their four-legged friends along, as well-behaved dogs are welcome and will be given a rosette at the finish (please don’t forget to select how many dogs you are bringing).
The event has been kindly sponsored by Hills Ford, with dog rosettes and treats being supplied by Austin & Co.
All entrance fees will go to support Guide Dogs and although not mandatory, we hope that everyone taking part can raise some sponsorship – every little bit helps!
