Upton Triathlon, Duathlon and Kids Fun Run
The Upton triathlon with its popular post race party takes place on Saturday 10 July. Now in its 14th year, Upton tri has grown to include a duathlon (run, cycle, run) and a Kids’ Fun Run (1km or 100m toddle for under 5s) as well as the triathlon.
The swim is downstream in the River Severn, making it perfect for both personal best times and for those who need a bit of help with their swimming. The cycle route takes in local lanes with lovely views towards the Malvern Hills and competitors finish by running across farmland and next to the river.
Triathlons often start early on a Sunday morning. However, racing at Upton is on a Saturday afternoon, which is why so many groups of friends and families come and make a weekend of it. There are great places to spectate during the day plus the town of Upton upon Severn to explore just a few minutes walk away. Accommodation is even sorted with plenty of space for camping onsite and if Covid rules permit there will even be a party in the evening!
Upton tri is a great race for experienced and novice triathletes alike. It welcomes athletes of all abilities and over 10% are normally doing their first ever triathlon or duathlon. There is also the option to enter the triathlon as a relay team.
Everyone who enters will not only be looking to achieve their own personal goals, competitors will also be helping raise money for local charity, St Richard’s Hospice, who receive 10% of entry fees.
Anyone who wants to get involved but isn’t interested in competing can join our brilliant team of volunteer marshals. In return for up to 4 hours of volunteering, each marshal receives a lunch voucher, a race neck warmer, a free party ticket (if it goes ahead) and camping.
