SUMMARY:Easter Trail at Great Malvern Priory
DESCRIPTION:Great Malvern Priory is the place to visit if you have youngsters who enjoy a story trail and a prize at the end…a chocolate prize (whilst supplies last). \nA new series of scenes\, made in-house with pegdolls\, enthusiasm and hot-melt glue\, tell the story of Holy Week. \nThere’s a word to collect and write down at each of the scenes\, which can then be hunted in a word search on the trail leaflet which includes a picture to colour and a maze to follow\, to help Mary Magdalene find Jesus’ tomb. \nAnd a chocolate egg awaits (whilst supplies last) every youngster who finds the 10 words (one per child\, please). Just look in the plastic box below the table where the trail starts. If we’ve temporarily run out\, please do ask at the Custos’ office\, for a re-stock. \nThe Easter Trail is free and available during Priory opening hours until 12 April. Check the Priory website for details.

SUMMARY:Malvern Hills Literary Loop: Tolkien\, Lewis\, Darwin and Dickens
DESCRIPTION:Legendary fantasy authors JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis were frequent visitors to the Malvern Hills around the middle of the 20th century and the distinctive landscape may have inspired features of Middle Earth and Narnia\, like the Giant’s Cave from The Hobbit and the Victorian gas lamps from The Lion\, the Witch & the Wardrobe. \nA century earlier\, authors Charles Darwin and Charles Dickens visited Malvern for the Water Cure and most of the treatment centres and guest houses still remain. \nThe Malvern Hills Literary Loop starts at the Mr. Tumnus bench in Priory Park and heads up past Knotsford House where Dickens stayed to Lewis’s former school Cherbourg House before pausing at the Lewis Memorial in Rosebank Gardens and following the gas lamps up to St. Ann’s Well cafe. \nAfter admiring the views around North Hill\, the trail descends to Alexandra Rd where Lewis’s close friend & biographer George Sayer lived\, opposite the former home of composer Edward Elgar. \nThe loop then heads up past Montreal House where Darwin stayed during his daughter’s treatment and past Lewis & Tolkien’s favourite pub The Unicorn Inn before passing the Hobbit door and down to Malvern Priory to find Anne Darwin’s grave and potentially the original Narnian gas lamp. \nDates and booking\nThe walks are available on many dates\, often with the option of two start times on the same day. SUMMARY:Cléo de 5 a 7 (PG) (Malvern French Film Centre)

SUMMARY:Glorious!
DESCRIPTION:Florence Foster Jenkins is about to blow your mind…and possibly your eardrums. \nGlorious! follows Florence’s journey as she prepares for her concerts\, builds an unlikely friendship with her accompanist\, Cosme\, and defies her critics to follow her dreams. \nDubbed ‘the worst singer in the world\,’ Glorious! is the true story of American socialite Florence Foster Jenkins\, who was known for her flamboyant costumes\, enigmatic performances\, and decidedly off-key voice. \nStarring Wendi Peters (Coronation Street) as Florence Foster Jenkins and Matthew James Morrison (EastEnders)\, as Cosme McMoon\, in this 20th anniversary production\, this hilarious production played to glowing reviews at Manchester’s Hope Mill Theatre and is the feel-good comedy you’ve been waiting for. \nGlorious! wowed audiences in its original Olivier-nominated West End long-running production starring Maureen Lipman in 2005\, before coming to the big screen\, starring Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant in the film version of the play that critics simply called ‘glorious!’. The show has since been seen by millions of people worldwide\, translated into 25 languages\, and performed in 36 countries. \nGlorious! is written by Peter Quilter (End of the Rainbow and the Oscar-winning film\, Judy) and directed by Kirk Jameson (Song From Far Away\, Madagascar: The Musical). \nShow times\nTuesday 7 April 2026\, 7.30pm\nWednesday 8 April 2026\, 2.30pm\nWednesday 8 April 2026\, 7.30pm\nThursday 9 April 2026\, 7.30pm\nFriday 10 April 2026\, 7.30pm\nSaturday 11 April 2026\, 2.30pm\nSaturday 11 April 2026\, 7.30pm

SUMMARY:Gazon Maudit (15) (Malvern French Film Centre)
DESCRIPTION:A womanising estate agent and his gorgeous Spanish wife are about to have their lives turned upside down by a lesbian DJ\, Marijo (played by director Josiane Balasko)\, who arrives into their lives by accident and stays. \nBalasko wrote the film as well as directing and starring in it and won the César in 1996 for her clever and witty screenplay that swings deliberately between high comedy belly laughs and genuine pathos. Accompanied by a very beautiful soundtrack\, and set in a stunning location in the south of France near Avignon\, this dance between the three central characters provides an instance of the most notable difference between European films and Hollywood films\, namely that it is not always obvious how the story is going to progress. The unforeseen yet plausible plot turns are the film’s strength. Will you anticipate the final twist? \nEnglish title: French Twist\nDirector: Josiane Balasko\nRelease date: 1995\nQuirky comedy\nRunning time: 1hr 44mins\nCertificate: 15\nFrench with English subtitles
