SUMMARY:Colwall Wildflower Meadows Summer Opening
DESCRIPTION:Once again the wildflower meadow walks at Colwall are open and all are welcome to come and enjoy beautiful wildflowers in the most wonderful setting – Colwall Village Garden\, Brookmead and Lugg’s Mill. \nOpen to everyone until Sunday 5 July 2026\, the volunteers behind the project hope that local visitors will make this a destination once a week or so to see how the wildflowers grow! Those visiting the area will also relish the experience as a one-off treat. \nThe accessible entrance is at Lugg’s Mill Orchard and compost toilets are available at Colwall Village Garden\, with bike racks\, parking and access to Gas Orchard and Brookmead Meadows. \nLook out for the fabulous new sign at Lugg’s Mill and the apple sign at Colwall Village Garden – both on Old Church Road. \nColwall is accessible by train on the Birmingham – Hereford line and by bus on the 675: Great Malvern to Ledbury service.

DESCRIPTION:The annual Great Malvern Food Festival is back for its 15th year in 2026. This year\, the festival will take place on Grange Road\, near the front of Malvern Theatres\, on 4 & 5 July 2026. \nCome and enjoy the food\, festival atmosphere and summery vibes from 10am – 6pm on Saturday and 10am – 5pm on Sunday. \nPlease note: entry to this event is free. \nYou’ll be in for a treat at this year’s Great Malvern Food Festival\, which is one of the only free food festivals in the region. SUMMARY:Malvern Hills Literary Loop: Tolkien\, Lewis\, Darwin and Dickens
DESCRIPTION:Legendary fantasy authors JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis were frequent visitors to the Malvern Hills around the middle of the 20th century and the distinctive landscape may have inspired features of Middle Earth and Narnia\, like the Giant’s Cave from The Hobbit and the Victorian gas lamps from The Lion\, the Witch & the Wardrobe. \nA century earlier\, authors Charles Darwin and Charles Dickens visited Malvern for the Water Cure and most of the treatment centres and guest houses still remain. \nThe Malvern Hills Literary Loop starts at the Mr. Tumnus bench in Priory Park and heads up past Knotsford House where Dickens stayed to Lewis’s former school Cherbourg House before pausing at the Lewis Memorial in Rosebank Gardens and following the gas lamps up to St. Ann’s Well cafe. \nAfter admiring the views around North Hill\, the trail descends to Alexandra Rd where Lewis’s close friend & biographer George Sayer lived\, opposite the former home of composer Edward Elgar. \nThe loop then heads up past Montreal House where Darwin stayed during his daughter’s treatment and past Lewis & Tolkien’s favourite pub The Unicorn Inn before passing the Hobbit door and down to Malvern Priory to find Anne Darwin’s grave and potentially the original Narnian gas lamp. \nDates and booking\nThe walks are available on many dates\, often with the option of two start times on the same day. SUMMARY:Malvern Hills Literary Loop: Tolkien\, Lewis\, Darwin and Dickens
DESCRIPTION:Legendary fantasy authors JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis were frequent visitors to the Malvern Hills around the middle of the 20th century and the distinctive landscape may have inspired features of Middle Earth and Narnia\, like the Giant’s Cave from The Hobbit and the Victorian gas lamps from The Lion\, the Witch & the Wardrobe. \nA century earlier\, authors Charles Darwin and Charles Dickens visited Malvern for the Water Cure and most of the treatment centres and guest houses still remain. \nThe Malvern Hills Literary Loop starts at the Mr. Tumnus bench in Priory Park and heads up past Knotsford House where Dickens stayed to Lewis’s former school Cherbourg House before pausing at the Lewis Memorial in Rosebank Gardens and following the gas lamps up to St. Ann’s Well cafe. \nAfter admiring the views around North Hill\, the trail descends to Alexandra Rd where Lewis’s close friend & biographer George Sayer lived\, opposite the former home of composer Edward Elgar. \nThe loop then heads up past Montreal House where Darwin stayed during his daughter’s treatment and past Lewis & Tolkien’s favourite pub The Unicorn Inn before passing the Hobbit door and down to Malvern Priory to find Anne Darwin’s grave and potentially the original Narnian gas lamp. \nDates and booking\nThe walks are available on many dates\, often with the option of two start times on the same day.
