A Turbulent Priest
Friday 20th September at 7.30pm (Doors open at 7pm)
A Turbulent Priest is based on the true story of the murder of Thomas Becket in Canterbury Cathedral in 1170 nearly 850 years ago. Although the story is compressed, this brand new comedy with songs follows the extraordinary story of Thomas and King Henry II, their bromance, bust-up and betrayals. However it also asks some challenging questions. Was Thomas naïve to trust the King? Was King Henry II entirely unreasonable? Could he be forgiven for wanting supreme authority in his own kingdom? And ultimately, who rules? Does the church have to pay a price for her prophetic voice?
