SUMMARY:Great Malvern Festival of Stories for Children
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted that the Great Malvern Festival of Stories for Children is back in 2025\, celebrating our storytelling heritage and inspiring a new generation of storytellers across a variety of genres. \nThis year’s project will be delivered across six days in October. The first four days will be aimed at local schools\, who will be offered an opportunity to attend and take part in the specially designed programme. SUMMARY:Will Hughes Workshop - ‘What Not to Give an Ogre for His Birthday’ - Great Malvern Festival of Stories for Children
DESCRIPTION:Will Hughes is an illustrator and writer from Malvern in Worcestershire. He studied at Hereford College of Art and the University of Edinburgh where he got a degree in Illustration. He works mostly in ink and watercolour because that lends itself to quick and lively illustrations. In recent years he has combined that with a much broader range of materials\, including collage to add vibrancy and colour to his work. \nIn 2019 he wrote and illustrated ‘What Not to Give an Ogre for His Birthday’ (Little Door Books). Following this he has illustrated a number of others including the ‘Universal Zoo’ (Otter-Barry Books)\, ‘Peetje and Flieflo and de VerdWaalde Superstinker’ (Lemniscaat) written by Mathilde Stein and published in the Netherlands. \nWill Hughes’s book ‘What Not to Give an Ogre for His Birthday’ tells the story of two children and their quest to find a present for their neighbour\, a rather large ogre who turns out to be quite tricky to buy for. In this workshop Will will read the story\, then everyone will come up with some terrible gifts together\, before creating their own stories with creatures straight from their imaginations.  \n  \nPerformance time: 10.30 – 11.30am \nTickets\nAdult: £8\nChild: £5 \nTicket price includes VAT.\n \n20% multiple event discount available when booked directly with Malvern Theatres box office. \nTicket price does not include booking fee.\nAll children must be accompanied by an adult. \nWhat’s on at the Great Malvern Festival of Stories for Children. \nThe Great Malvern Festival of Stories for Children is part funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
