For 30 minutes every Sunday afternoon\, audiences of up to 15 million would gather around the wireless to enjoy listening to Kenneth Horne and his merry crew get up to all sorts of mischief. \nWith its infamous movie spoofs and hilarious regular characters such as Rambling Sid Rumpo\, Charles and Fiona\, J. Peasemold Gruntfuttock\, and Julian and Sandy\, Round the Horne was one of the biggest and best radio comedy shows of all time\, and still endures today\, six decades on. \nSo come and take a step back in time to the BBC’s Paris Studios and experience this comedy classic live on stage. \nOriginal scripts written by Barry Took and Marty Feldman. DESCRIPTION:We are delighted that the Great Malvern Festival of Stories for Children is back in 2025\, celebrating our storytelling heritage and inspiring a new generation of storytellers across a variety of genres. \nThis year’s project will be delivered across six days in October. The first four days will be aimed at local schools\, who will be offered an opportunity to attend and take part in the specially designed programme. This will be followed by a fantastic family programme on Saturday and Sunday open to everyone. \nThere will be a mixture of free and ticketed events\, with multi-buy ticket discounts. \nThe Great Malvern Festival of Stories for Children is part funded by the UK government. \n

For 30 minutes once a week on a Sunday afternoon\, audiences of up to 15 million people would gather around their radio sets to listen to Kenneth Horne and his merry crew get up to all sorts of mischief. \nNoted for its movie spoofs and hilarious regular characters such as Rambling Sid Rumpo\, Charles and Fiona\, J. Peasemold Gruntfuttock\, and Julian and Sandy\, Round the Horne was one of the biggest and best radio comedy shows of all time.
