Klezmer Hava Naguila \n  \nFar Flung Trio\nFar Flung delight audiences with a mix of virtuosity and playfulness\, tradition and innovation. In January 2020 they released an album\, Live at the Large Room\, available on Spotify and YouTube. \nKatherine Hunka was made a fellow of the Royal Academy of Music in London. She went on to become the leader of the Irish Chamber Orchestra and has held this position since 2002. She regularly directs from the leader’s chair and in 2020 directed a solo album of Schubert and Piazzolla which received five stars in the BBC Music Magazine. Katherine is the artistic director of the Killaloe Chamber Music Festival and also a member of the Solas Quartet. \nDermot Dunne has pioneered his instrument in Ireland and has premiered 40 works written for the accordion. He is a regular at Irish and international concert halls and festivals. Performance highlights include the BBC Last Night of the Proms from Belfast Opera House\, and chamber music with violinist Pekka Kuusisto and cellist Natalie Klein. He has been a regular soloist with the Irish Chamber Orchestra and accompanied them on their tour to China and Singapore. \nMalachy Robinson is a prize-winning graduate of London’s Guildhall School of Music and holds a Masters degree in Historical Musicology from the University of London. He is principal double bass with the Irish Chamber Orchestra. Malachy is active as a composer of music and singer of songs\, and as a player of banjo and viola da gamba. Adapted from Kenneth Grahame’s classic children’s novel with music by Edward Elgar\, this family concert invites its audience to join in with the story. \nBefore the story commences\, the audience will learn dance sequences that represent Toad in his car speeding through the lanes\, and in contrast a sequence of moves that represent the river. Adapted from Kenneth Grahame’s classic children’s novel with music by Edward Elgar\, this family concert invites its audience to join in with the story. \nBefore the story commences\, the audience will learn dance sequences that represent Toad in his car speeding through the lanes\, and in contrast a sequence of moves that represent the river. This story has been especially adapted for Toscana Strings – Stories Set To Music\, with the music being carefully chosen to enhance the storytelling. \nAll the music is by Elgar and includes sections from Salut d’amour\, La Capricieuse\, Pomp and Circumstance No 1 and 4\, Nimrod\, Troyte\, Serenade for Strings\, Nursery Suite\, Cello Concerto and Bavarian Dances. \nThe Firs will be closed to the public so it will be a family friendly day where the property will be exclusively open for concert ticket holders only. \nPerformances\nSunday 4 February 2024: 2pm – 2.45pm\nSunday 4 February 2024: 3.30pm – 4.15pm \nTickets for this event cost £8 (includes a soft drink) and booking is essential – visit the National Trust website for more details and to book
