SUMMARY:The Hills Singers in Concert (Midsummer Malvern)
DESCRIPTION:Directed by Carol Green \nThe Hills Singers perform in Studio One at Malvern Theatres in July with a programme called ‘Rejoice in Summer’. It will be a collection of songs from all ages\, celebrating the natural world\, poetry\, and human relations\, from the exuberant spiritual ‘Every time I feel the Spirit’\, to Mozart’s ‘Veni sancte Spiritus’\, and Handel’s ‘Hallelujah’ Chorus. \nThe concert also includes Malvern Spa Association’s first new piece of Malvern Water Music for the 21st century\, created with the community by Malvern-based composer Liz Dilnot-Johnson. DESCRIPTION:Candlelit choral concert brings chance to unwind and reflect: Rachmaninov’s Vespers by Candlelight \nThe renowned choral group Armonico Consort is to give a summer evening candlelit performance of Rachmaninov’s glorious Vespers at Malvern Theatres on 8 July 2025. \nRachmaninov’s great choral achievement provides a chance to experience an hour of contemplation and mindfulness in an evocative candlelit setting. \nWritten in 1915\, while Rachmaninov was on a concert tour of Russia to support the war effort\, this is music that brought consolation as well as a yearning for peace in the depths of war. It was hugely popular from the outset and Rachmaninov said\, ‘Even in my wildest dreams I could not have imagined that I could write such a work.’ He hoped its fifth movement would be played at his funeral. \nThe rich and sonorous tones of the Vespers are steeped in the long tradition of the Russian Orthodox Church and Rachmaninov found a way of turning the unaccompanied voices into an orchestra\, with singers frequently dividing into multiple parts. \nLed by founder-director Christopher Monks\, Armonico Consort is one of today’s leading vocal groups\, especially known for its innovative concerts of choral masterpieces\, and its critically-acclaimed performances and recordings. \nChristopher Monks says\, ‘Rachmaninov Vespers is simply the most gorgeous choral music ever to have been written\, and for a moment in time\, simply nothing else will matter.’ \n

DESCRIPTION:The Bowie Band performs favourite songs from the decades of one of the greatest British musicians of all time\, David Bowie\, celebrating his legacy and live experience. \nIn 2005\, David Bowie’s ‘Reality’ tour was curtailed because of his heart attack\, and this live experience continues where he left off. DESCRIPTION:Back for 2025\, join Malvern Town Council for an 18-week programme running throughout the summer months (with the exception of 6 July) that will see bands from around Worcestershire coming to play in the Priory Park Bandstand. There is something for everyone\, with many genres covered over the season including brass band\, jazz\, pop\, folk\, blues and many more. \nAll concerts run from 2.30pm – 4.30pm (except 17 August 2025\, when there will be an earlier start with an additional band at 1pm) and are free to attend. \nBring a rug or folding chair to sit on if you wish. DESCRIPTION:The London Handel Players is a world-class ensemble bringing together leading period-instrument specialists in the field of baroque chamber music. For over two decades\, since making their debut at Handel’s parish church\, St. George’s in Hanover Square\, as part of the London Handel Festival in 2000\, they have delighted audiences around the world with their concerts and recordings. They perform regularly at Wigmore Hall and at many of the foremost festivals in the UK\, Europe and North America\, bringing audiences baroque chamber music and concertos and collaborating with some of the world’s leading singers. \nThe Players will be at Hellens for two consecutive days: Saturday 26 & Sunday 27 July 2025. \nThe first concert\, taking place on Saturday at 7.30pm\, is entitled ‘Father\, Godfather\, and Son’. Georg Philipp Telemann was Godfather to Johann Sebastian Bach’s fifth child\, Carl Philipp Emanuel\, who later became a prolific composer\, and this concert contains works by all three of these great masters with a variety of duos\, trios and quartets. \nThe second concert\, taking place on Sunday at 3pm\, has been given the title ‘Recreation’ and features works by Schmelzer\, Quantz\, Telemann\, Handel and Leclair (including Leclair’s Première Récréation de Musique). \nTickets\nTicket for each concert: £20\nCombined ticket for both concerts: £35\nStudents in full-time education and carers: Free \nHaywain Bar and doors open 30 minutes before performance.

The audience will listen to a complete performance of the piano concerto in a version for solo piano\, which features slides of Elgar’s manuscript sketches. \nDavid Owen Norris has recorded all of Sir Edward Elgar’s piano compositions. SUMMARY:Music in the Park 2025
DESCRIPTION:Back for 2025\, join Malvern Town Council for an 18-week programme running throughout the summer months (with the exception of 6 July) that will see bands from around Worcestershire coming to play in the Priory Park Bandstand. There is something for everyone\, with many genres covered over the season including brass band\, jazz\, pop\, folk\, blues and many more. \nAll concerts run from 2.30pm – 4.30pm (except 17 August 2025\, when there will be an earlier start with an additional band at 1pm) and are free to attend. \nBring a rug or folding chair to sit on if you wish. It’s just a three-minute walk from the park to some of Great Malvern’s wide range of shops and cafes\, where you can purchase a drink\, lunch or treat to enjoy whilst listening to the music.
