The programme will open with John Ireland’s youthful String Quartet\, where the influences of Beethoven and Brahms can be heard but also the early emergence of a new musical voice. In the second half of the concert\, the Tippett Quartet will play one of the perennial glories of chamber music\, Schubert’s ‘Death and the Maiden’ Quartet\, a work of riveting drama which also finds room for the most affecting poetic utterance. DESCRIPTION:John Otway is an English singer-songwriter who has built a sizeable cult audience thanks to his extensive touring\, a surreal sense of humour and a self-deprecating underdog persona. \nIn 2016\, Otway announced that he was intending to record a new album. After a successful Kickstarter campaign\, he took his band to the Caribbean island of Montserrat and became the first international recording artist to record there since the Rolling Stones in 1989. The result was Montserrat – the first album of entirely new and original Otway material in over ten years.

DESCRIPTION:Allan Schiller and John Humphreys have been performing as a piano duo since 1972 and in 2022 celebrated their 50th anniversary with appearances around the UK\, culminating in a recital at London’s esteemed Wigmore Hall.
