DESCRIPTION:Embark on a musical journey at The Firs this summer by celebrating Elgar’s Wand of Youth Suite. It’s a chance to dance\, move and play – all in the inspiring setting of Elgar’s Birthplace! \nBooking is not required and the event is free (admission charges apply). The event runs Friday – Monday inclusive until the end of August 2025. \nAre you ready to be inspired by Elgar’s Wand of Youth Suite? Did you know it was written when Elgar was a child and completed as an adult? \nCome along for an outdoor summer of play at The Firs\, jam-packed with imagination\, wonder and make-believe\, based on the following movement from the suites: \nSuite No. 1\, Op. 1a: IV. Sun Dance: Learn the weather waltz where you can twirl\, leap and dance in whatever the weather \nSuite No. 1\, Op. 1a: V. Fairy Pipers: Search the orchard and open the fairy doors to meet Elgar’s family \nSuite No. 1\, Op. 1a: VII. Fairies and Giants: Enter the imaginary world of fairies and giants\, sit in the giants’ chair and create your own small world for a fairy \nSuite No. 2\, Op. 1b: III. Moths and Butterflies: Discover more about British moths and butterflies\, matching their wing patterns \nSuite No. 2\, Op. 1b: V. The Tame Bear: Bring along your favourite teddy and enjoy creating a teddy bears picnic in the idyllic cottage garden \nSuite No. 2\, Op. 1b. VI. Wild Bears: Join the Wild Bears Band\, where you will be the musician. Create music from everyday objects and our nature-based instruments to create your own rhythm

DESCRIPTION:The theme for 2025 is all about your favourite film\, book or theatre characters! So whether you are aspiring to train dragons\, become the next Enola Holmes or are Superhero mad\, you are very welcome. \nWith a wide variety of fun activities taking place every day — like mask making\, face painting and prosthetics\, drama\, crafts and theatre skills — each session concludes with a film in the main auditorium\, enjoyed after a picnic lunch from our local suppliers. \nIdeal for children aged 7 – 11 and taking place from 21 – 24 July\, 28 – 31 July and 11 – 14 August\, The Regal Summer School includes a free lunch with every booking. Days can be booked individually\, so book as few or as many days as you like. \nSome funding is available for free places; otherwise\, the cost is £15 per day.
