SUMMARY:Eccentric Hat-Making Workshop with Lexi Strauss (FEAST)
DESCRIPTION:Just 12 places are available; the event runs from 10am – 4pm. \nA joyful hat-making experience\, intended to encourage clown-like expression via costuming. \nFrom a wide range of recycled materials\, participants will be guided to create their own unique\, wearable headpieces to express authentic aspects of themselves. We will briefly explore some clown performance techniques to help inspire the direction of our hat designs. Participants should bring with them a resonating\, lightweight object or objects – perhaps something both meaningful and fun\, or possibly just something very beautiful to your eye – which you’d genuinely feel excited about wearing on top of your head in some form. These may\, or may not\, end up as part of the final creation. \nLexi Strauss is a multi-disciplinary artist\, clown\, art lecturer and facilitator. Clown Millinery forms a vital part of Lexi’s costuming practice\, which includes their Clown Choir hats and Sheshayman’s dazzling Showgirl Shaman headpiece\, in addition to many other pieces adorned by comic performers and fashionistas alike. \nLexi last joined us at FEAST in an Earthworm costume at Friday Night Bites in 2021. \nTea and coffee will be available\, but please bring food and snacks for lunch. \nTickets: £10 plus booking fee – book online at Ticketsource

SUMMARY:Paradise Lost (Lies Unopened Beside Me) (FEAST)
DESCRIPTION:A one-man staging of Milton’s epic poem Paradise Lost and not like whatever came into your head when you read the first bit of that sentence. Combining theatre\, comedy and movement\, this is a journey through the story of the creation of everything\, condensed into 75 minutes. It is a show which brings you the highlights of this well-known but often forgotten story beginning with Lucifer’s rebellion and ending with Adam and Eve’s expulsion from the Garden of Eden. \nA single man plays all the characters\, creates all the scenes and\, despite his best efforts\, falls a little short of perfection. This is a show for anyone who has ever created anything (child\, garden\, paper aeroplane) and then watched it spiral out of control. \nTickets: £12 plus booking fee – available online at Ticketsource

SUMMARY:Choreographies of Stimming (Performance Lecture) (FEAST)
DESCRIPTION:Neurodiversity is the natural variation of all human brains and minds. Stimming is repetitive actions to self-regulate\, self-stimulate\, or self-soothe\, bringing oneself into balance. Stimming is an important part of neurodivergent embodiment\, of bodily being with a different mind. \nIn this part performance\, part (not boring or confusing) lecture\, neuroqueer choreographer Dr Aby Watson demonstrates her sensory-seeking practice of stimprovisation whilst riffing on neurodivergence\, neuronormativity\, and stimming through a choreography of self-regulation that unfolds in the here and now. Expect a loop-like\, tactile\, rhythmic and repetitive performance of stimulating voice\, body\, and object that dives in with playful sensoriality and the true passion of a special interest. And hey\, maybe you learn something new too? Win win. \n‘Choreographies of Stimming’ is held in a relaxed environment. It manifests Aby’s interest in non-neuronormative knowledge exchange\, and is an experiment with neurodivergent-centred and multi-sensory modes of academic presentation. Made with support from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and The British Council\, this performance lecture was first performed at Británico Cultural for Encuentro de Artes Inclusivos in Lima\, Peru in October 2023. \nTickets: £8 plus booking fee (carers free) – book online at Ticketsource

SUMMARY:A Year and a Day (FEAST)
DESCRIPTION:A curse causes Nathan to skip a year and a day into the future\, every time he falls asleep. Leaving behind a botched heist\, the love of his life and an upset criminal gang\, Nathan’s absence causes all sorts of trouble for the ones he cares about. \nSpanning 65 years\, A Year and a Day is a poignant and darkly funny exploration of a man trying to right his wrongs as he rapidly skips through time. SUMMARY:Landscape (1989)
DESCRIPTION:A razed forest\, a cluster of mushrooms and two people walking towards the horizon. One foot in front of the other. \nPlacing their ears to the forest floor\, award winning performance makers Emergency Chorus explore the secret life of mushrooms – and what they might say to us in an age of climate emergency. \nLandscape (1989) artfully blends the history of mushroom hunting in Oregon\, the early life of John Cage\, and apocalypse fiction: a haunting vision of ruin and repair. Through choreography\, found text\, live cooking and striking imagery\, Landscape (1989) invites audiences to pay attention to the slower\, stranger world of fungi. SUMMARY:The Bobby Kennedy Experience
DESCRIPTION:Written & performed by Russell Lucas\nDirected by Sarah-Louise Young \nJFK has been shot. What now? \nThe Bobby Kennedy Experience studies the life of the most famous man never to become President. \nRobert Francis Kennedy\, or ‘Bobby’ as he was affectionately known\, was the younger brother of the most famous US President ever: John F. Kennedy (JFK). \nOften referred to as the ‘runt’ of the Kennedy litter and the one least likely to succeed\, Bobby would go on to prove himself to be a formidable force in America\, as not only did he pick up the Kennedy project after his brother was brutally murdered\, he emerged out of the political wilderness and crusaded for civil rights\, climate change\, alternative fuels and\, finally\, for the American Presidency itself. But fate had a cruel plan for Bobby… \nUsing movement\, text\, music\, video\, direct audience address and historical moments\, The Bobby Kennedy Experience addresses the biggest debates of the 1960s: Vietnam\, civil rights\, gun control and\, of course\, Martin Luther King. \nTickets: £10 plus booking fee – book online at Ticketsource

SUMMARY:The Return (Workshop) (FEAST)
DESCRIPTION:Workshop led by Natasha Stanic Mann. \nWithin the framework of ‘The Return’\, a one-woman show about the intergenerational effects of war\, we developed a workshop based on the themes we are exploring in the piece – living through a war\, leaving one’s country\, and building a new life and a sense of belonging. Through drama games\, improvisation and devising techniques\, workshop participants get a taste of what goes into dramatising life experience. Participants work in groups and use stimuli including objects\, images or poems to devise stories and make performances. \nThis workshop provides a safe environment for the participants to take risks and experiment with something new. It encourages participants to explore their creative potential and share stories. The collaborative nature of the workshop nurtures interpersonal skills\, promotes teamwork and communication\, and develops a sense of community. \nTickets: £5 plus booking fee – book online at Ticketsource
