SUMMARY:Hanley Swan Village Show & Car Boot 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Hanley Swan Village Show has been running since August 1862\, when the first Hanley Castle Horticultural and Flower Show was organised by the gentry of Hanley Castle parish. The aim was ‘to encourage horticulture among the cottagers\, and to stimulate them to neatness and order not only in their gardens but their households’. \nOver a century-and-a-half later\, it still takes place each year in August\, but it is now organised by local volunteers. Entry is open to all amateurs living in or around the parish. \nStaging of entries takes place on Friday 28 August from 3pm to 5pm and on Saturday 29 August from 8.30am to 10am. The show is then closed between 10am and 1.30pm for judging\, before opening to the public from 1.30pm – 5pm. Awards are presented at 4pm and raffle prizes at 4.30pm. \nAccess to the car boot field is from 12pm onwards and costs £10 per car\, payable in cash on the day\, but sellers must pre-register by completing the online form no later than 5pm the day before the show (Friday) and must remain on site until 4pm on the show day. \nThere will also be a variety of stalls selling hand-made items\, plants and food. \nPlus\, Single Reeds\, a wind-based band from Malvern\, will be performing a range of music from light entertainment through to Big Band sounds\, popular light classical pieces and classic pop\, outside the village hall from 2pm. \nAdmission to the show is free.

Three of the UK’s best firework companies face off with a 10-minute spectacular firework display choreographed to music followed by a breath-taking\, huge finale display. The types of fireworks being used by the companies are unlike any material used for fireworks available to the general public. They use category 4 fireworks\, which are only for professional use and the biggest available in the UK. \nAfter gazing at the illuminating fireworks and lasers\, watching all the teams battle for the Fireworks Champions title\, the audience has all the power in their hands (through their mobile phone) to decide the winner. How exciting! Texts will be charged at normal rates and a limit of one vote per number is in place. SUMMARY:History of Callow End Village Hall (Heritage Open Days)
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition about the history of Callow End Village Hall\, marking its centenary in 2026. \nCallow End Village Hall is marking a century at the centre of village life. In 1924\, the Earl Beauchamp gifted a site in the village to the villagers to build a meeting hall. Two years later\, on Saturday 13 March 1926\, as reported in Berrow’s Worcester Journal\, the hall was formally opened by Lady Beauchamp. \nWe are currently collecting old photos and other stories about the hall\, the villagers and local village life. \nCome and see what we have collected\, and enjoy cake and refreshments. \nTimings\nSaturday 12 September 2026: 2pm – 4pm
