There’s free entry on Saturday 13 September 2025 from 10am until 4.30pm. \nThe town’s ancient monastic gatehouse is home to Malvern Museum of Local History. SUMMARY:National Trust - Brockhampton (Heritage Open Days)
DESCRIPTION:Brockhampton is a charming medieval manor house set within the largest orchard looked after by the National Trust. With over six centuries of history and 1\,700 acres of woodland\, parkland and farmland\, it’s the perfect place for a day out this Heritage Open Day. \nPass through the lopsided gatehouse and prepare to travel through time inside the 14th century moated manor house\, where you’ll find that each room tells the story of a different era in Brockhampton’s long history\, from the medieval Great Hall to the 1950s Freegard lounge. \nThe beautiful orchard around the manor house is planted with Shropshire Prune damson trees\, and if you walk along the hard-standing accessible paths you’ll reach the heritage apple\, quince\, and pear trees\, followed by the apple-core and reimagined orchards. Here you’ll discover a proliferation of young fruit trees\, as well as the natural play trail and the ‘Hereford Bull’ trow\, a cargo boat which sailed in Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee pageant. \nFor a longer walk\, follow one of the way-marked walks out into the wider estate and enjoy all the natural beauty of Brockhampton\, from wooded valleys and streams to open parkland. \nOpen free of charge from 10am – 5pm on Saturday 13 September 2025 for Heritage Open Days\, Brockhampton is also open regularly (admission fees apply at other times).

Tours of the church and bell tower are on offer\, along with the chance to see 15th century carved misericords\, a rare ‘She’ Bible\, Sealed Knot Society Civil War display\, the Ripple Giant and more. \nSt Mary’s Church\, Ripple is the largest medieval church in the county of Worcestershire. SUMMARY:Tenbury Timbers (Heritage Open Days)
DESCRIPTION:Tenbury Wells Museum will feature photographic displays of this old market town’s varied architectural styles\, which range from timber-framed buildings and Georgian townhouses to its iconic ‘Chinese Gothic’ Pump Rooms and Art Deco-styled Regal Cinema. \nWalking around Tenbury’s bustling town centre conservation area\, the wide variety of architectural styles becomes clear to the curious observer. The museum itself is housed in a typical Victorian school dating from 1863\, where you’ll find special displays from its extensive archival photographic collections of these buildings\, including ones that are no longer standing\, having been demolished to allow improved traffic flow. The town also has a Victorian workhouse\, as well as St Mary’s Parish Church\, dating from the 12th century\, which was restored in the 19th century after severe flood damage. Access will be available to buildings that are not normally open to the public. \nMany of the buildings boast unique features which are obvious either through their construction or through their original or current usage. One example is Longwater\, a private house dating from the late 17th century\, which is of a unique construction of bricks over two feet in length. \nAlso not to be missed are the exotic blue-and-white Victorian Spa Pump Rooms\, reminiscent of the Crystal Palace\, the elaborate timber-framed patterns on the 17th century Royal Oak Public House\, and the ‘oval’ Round Market\, which are just three examples among many unique gems. \nVisit between 10.30am and 1pm on 12\, 13 & 16 – 20 September 2025 to enjoy this special insight into Tenbury’s history.

SUMMARY:Discover Pendock Old Church (Heritage Open Days)
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy the beautiful architecture of this Grade I-listed church\, including its lovely tower\, original Jacobean pews\, fine chancel arch and an intriguing ‘stepway’ to Heaven? \nVolunteers will be on hand between 2pm and 5pm to show you around and help you pinpoint the special features that make this charming little church such a gem. \nPendock Church is a local landmark\, seen standing proud above the M50 motorway to Ross-on-Wye. Earthworks in fields to the north of the church indicate the site of a medieval village and probably the de Pendocks’ manor house. \nMuch of this charming church is Norman\, but the tenth-century font indicates an even earlier building; in the fourteenth century new windows were added\, and the west tower was constructed. There are lovely sixteenth-century pews and Jacobean communion rails. It is thought that the great English composer Sir Edward Elgar\, who was born not many miles away\, may once have played the lovely little Georgian organ inside. \nPlease park carefully on the lane or drive up the track to park nearer the church.

SUMMARY:Quaker Architecture at Malvern Quaker Meeting House (Heritage Open Days)
DESCRIPTION:Come and have look around Malvern Meeting House\, a Grade II-listed example of ’30s Quaker architecture. \nMalvern Quaker Meeting House is a well-known local landmark on Orchard Road\, situated between Malvern College and the Malvern Theatres. It is not ordinarily open to the public\, except when its rooms are being used for worship or by hirers for weddings\, meetings and children’s play sessions. The Meeting House was designed and built for Malvern Quakers in 1937-38\, and its main room is used twice a week for Quaker Meetings for Worship. \nIn 1937\, Malvern Quakers bought the plot of land in Orchard Road and appealed for funds to build a new Meeting House. They were encouraged by the Quaker Cadbury family\, and Malvern’s proximity to Bournville led to J R Armstrong\, architect to the Bournville Village Trust\, being asked to design the building. His design was influenced by Arts and Crafts principles\, often used for Meeting Houses in the earlier part of the twentieth century. Historic England\, who listed the building in 2019\, note that ‘the meeting house is one of only a small number to be purpose-built in this era and remains an excellent example of the tradition as it was to be found in the interwar period’. \nRefreshments are free\, but donations to a local charity would be welcome. \nTimings & Tours\nMonday 15 September 2025: 2pm – 5pm\nThursday 18 September 2025: 9am – 12pm

SUMMARY:Visit Little Malvern Priory (Heritage Open Days)
DESCRIPTION:The history of Little Malvern Priory can be traced back to the 12th century when it was founded as a small Benedictine community of about fifteen monks under the control of Worcester Cathedral. \nThe most famous of the Episcopal Visitations was that undertaken by Bishop Alcock in 1480\, when he discovered ‘the great ruin of the Church and place’\, and when he discharged the Prior and monks ‘by reasons of their demerits’. According to his own account they ‘builded their Church and put their place of lodging’ into a sufficient state of repair so that the monks were able to return to their Priory in 1482\, having spent two years under correction at Gloucester Abbey. \nBishop Alcock was the tutor to Edward V\, with his brother the Duke of York\, one of the Princes in the Tower. The East window of the Priory portrays Edward V and other members of his family – one of only two portrayals of him. \nTimings & Tours\nWednesday 17 September 2025: 2pm – 4.30pm\nSaturday 20 September 2025: 10.30am – 4.30pm
