SUMMARY:Hotsy Totsy (Upton Jazz Festival)
DESCRIPTION:Free entry \nThe present 5-piece line-up came from an all-female band who played the Purcell Rooms in London. They play an impressive variety of styles\, from 1930s swing to 1940s cool\, with an occasional glance back to the 1920s\, making over old standards with fresh arrangements\, playing with panache and an obvious infectious enjoyment. The addition of Boswell Sisters type three-part harmonies are a superb feature of this band. Always something going on with 12 instruments between them\, this band\, led by Zoe Lambert (reeds\, vocals) and Debbie Arthurs (reeds\, drums\, vocals)\, with Rachel Hayward (banjo\, guitar\, vibes\, vocals)\, Jude Whitlock (bass) and Anna Menter (piano) generates plenty of energy and enthusiasm\, and is well received at events throughout the country.

SUMMARY:From Storytelling to Art – Exhibition by Graham Langley
DESCRIPTION:From Storytelling to Art – Exhibition by Graham Langley\nOpen 2 – 28 July 2025 during library opening hours (closed Sundays) \nMost of his life Graham has been involved in the performance arts. For 30 years he has travelled Britain and the world as a storyteller. But it is only in the last ten years that he has made something that he calls art\, mainly printmaking\, more recently acrylic\, and largely experimental. Much of his work reflects the British landscape\, especially prehistoric sites which he seeks out on his travels. \nThe exhibition will present a wide range of Graham Langley’s artwork. While much of the work will include colourful monoprints; these often combine the use of acrylic and collage. Work will include the all-black “Uffington White Horse at Night” and the all-white embossed image of the Nebra Sky Disc. \nAbout the artist\nFor twenty years Graham was a drama and dance teacher before an illness caused him to leave teaching. He turned back to his love of folksong and folklore. He started touring schools and libraries with his work and receiving invitations from abroad\, most notably tours in Australia\, New Zealand and Canada as well as Europe and Scandinavia. With Dream On Productions in Argentina he helped initiate English language storytelling in schools throughout South America. \nAs Artistic Director of the Trad Arts Team he established a touring network of popular storytelling evenings called Storytelling Café\, and nurtured young storytellers nationally\, running the annual Young Storyteller of the Year Award for ten years. Much of his recent artwork has narrative elements to them. \nAdmission is free.

SUMMARY:Storytelling Café with Graham Langley
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to join international storyteller Graham Langley for an evening of storytelling at the Malvern Library Cafe starting at 7pm on Wednesday 9 July. \nDescribed by The Times as a ‘storyteller for the 21st century’\, Graham’s enthusiasm\, energy and enthusiastic performances have captivated audiences worldwide. He was a resident storyteller at Birmingham Storytelling Cafe for seventeen years and his shows are guaranteed to delight audiences. \nThis Storytelling Café will be part of Graham’s art exhibition in the Library Café. He will tell his stories surrounded by his artwork\, which will be available to buy. \nThe event is free and refreshments will be available from Book & Cup Café to purchase. \nTo book your free place\, visit Malvern Library or contact malib@worcestershire.gov.uk \nFor twenty years Graham was a drama and dance teacher before an illness caused him to leave teaching.
