SUMMARY:Malvern Hills Cultural Walk
DESCRIPTION:Legendary fantasy authors JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis were frequent visitors to Malvern and the Malvern Hills and the distinctive landscape is thought to have inspired many features of Middle Earth and Narnia\, including the Giant’s Cave from The Hobbit and the Victorian gas lamps from The Lion\, the Witch & the Wardrobe. \nYou’ll choose between two routes\, the Tolkien Trail & the Lewis Loop\, both of which are outlined below. \nThe Tolkien Trail follows the main ridge south from the Wyche Cutting\, over several summits to the Giant’s Cave\, which is said to have inspired Tolkien’s first book\, The Hobbit. The trail then returns north\, with optional stops at the Malvern Hills Hotel and/or the Kettle Sings Cafe before ending where it began. \nThe Lewis Loop begins in Priory Park in Great Malvern and heads past Malvern College and Cherbourg House\, where Lewis went to school\, before pausing at the Lewis Memorial in Rosebank Gardens. Next it follows Narnia’s gas lamps up Happy Valley past St. Ann’s Well Cafe to the summit of North Hill before dropping down to Alexandra Road in Malvern Link\, where Lewis’s biographer\, George Sayer\, and composer Sir Edward Elgar lived. After passing Lewis and Tolkien’s favourite pub\, The Unicorn Inn on Belle Vue Terrace\, the loop ends at Great Malvern Priory\, home to what’s believed to be the original gas lamp. \nWhichever walk you choose\, you’ll hear tales of literary legends whilst savouring the most stunning views in the West Midlands. \nDates and booking\nThe walks are available on many dates\, often with the option of two start times on the same day. SUMMARY:The Return (Workshop) (FEAST)
DESCRIPTION:Workshop led by Natasha Stanic Mann. \nWithin the framework of ‘The Return’\, a one-woman show about the intergenerational effects of war\, we developed a workshop based on the themes we are exploring in the piece – living through a war\, leaving one’s country\, and building a new life and a sense of belonging. Through drama games\, improvisation and devising techniques\, workshop participants get a taste of what goes into dramatising life experience. Participants work in groups and use stimuli including objects\, images or poems to devise stories and make performances. \nThis workshop provides a safe environment for the participants to take risks and experiment with something new. It encourages participants to explore their creative potential and share stories. The collaborative nature of the workshop nurtures interpersonal skills\, promotes teamwork and communication\, and develops a sense of community. \nTickets: £5 plus booking fee – book online at Ticketsource

SUMMARY:The Return by Natasha Stanic Mann (FEAST)
DESCRIPTION:An immersive insight into the hidden consequences of war. \nThe Return is a one-woman show exploring hidden consequences of war. The story\, based on experience of living in Croatia during the breakup of the former Yugoslavia\, is fragmented and collaged. It unveils an aspect of a family history\, explores the surreal circumstances around a conflict building up and what goes into surviving it. Combining movement\, storytelling and poetry\, this profoundly personal story investigates how living through war has affected where Natasha is now. \nCreated and presented by an acclaimed team of international artists. Performed in English and Croatian. \nTickets: £8 plus booking fee – book online at Ticketsource

For more information\, including prices\, availability and to book. visit the Malvern Hills Cultural Walks page on Airbnb.
