SUMMARY:Carmen
DESCRIPTION:Ukrainian National Opera® presents Carmen – the most powerful\, enjoyable\, and tuneful opera\, with music by Georges Bizet\, performed by the Dnipro Opera\, from Ukraine \nFeaturing an impressive cast and accompanied by a live orchestra of over 30 musicians\, we are delighted to bring back Dnipro Opera theatre from Ukraine for our next Opera Season. This opera and ballet theatre has a long-standing heritage of top-quality opera productions\, and we are excited to bring it back to the UK. \nExperience the thrill of fiery passion\, jealousy\, and violence of 19th century Seville in Bizet’s most popular opera\, Carmen. \nCarmen follows the story of the downfall of Don José\, a naïve soldier who falls head over heels in love with Carmen\, a seductive\, free-spirited femme fatale. The infatuated Don José abandons his childhood sweetheart and neglects his military duties\, only to lose the fickle Carmen to the glamorous toreador Escamillo. \nThe music of Carmen has been widely acclaimed for the brilliance of its melodies\, enthralling atmosphere\, and orchestration\, as well as for the skill with which Bizet musically represented the emotions and suffering of his characters. \nThe Toreador Song is among the best known of all operatic arias. \nThe rich and colourful vigour of the gypsies’ scenes will have you on the edge of your seat\, and the vibrancy\, enthusiasm\, and intensity of the performances will reverberate long after the final curtain has fallen. \nSung in French with English Surtitles. \nRunning time: Approximately 2hrs 10mins (including 20min interval)

SUMMARY:RBO 2025/26: Siegfried (Live Broadcast)
DESCRIPTION:The Royal Opera presents Siegfried \nBrought up by a scheming dwarf and unaware of his true family origins\, a young man embarks on an epic journey. Andreas Schager\, in his much-anticipated debut with The Royal Opera\, stars as Siegfried’s eponymous hero\, alongside Christopher Maltman’s towering Wanderer\, Peter Hoare’s treacherous Mime and Elisabet Strid’s radiant Brünnhilde. Antonio Pappano conducts\, drawing out the unspoken tensions and ethereal mysticism of Wagner’s dynamic score. \nRunning time: 5.5 hours (to be confirmed)\nSung in German with English subtitles

SUMMARY:Cider with Rosie
DESCRIPTION:Join ARKangel for a memorable evening of storytelling\, live music and rich nostalgia as they bring Cider with Rosie and the author Laurie Lee’s beloved countryside to life – right on your doorstep at St Michaels Village Hall. \nThis magical performance will whisk you away on a journey through a changing rural England\, where tradition meets modernity in the wake of the First World War. SUMMARY:The Hildasholm Festival Ensemble
DESCRIPTION:Musicians\nElisabeth Zeuthen Schneider – Violin\nToke Møldrup – Cello\nDaniele Rinaldo – Piano \nThis talented trio played at Hellens in summer 2025 and the organisers are delighted to welcome them again in April 2026. \nThe first half of the programme opens with a grand Bach piece: a ‘Triosonata’ where three voices -violin\, left and right hand of keyboard – tease and baffle. \nThe Debussy cello sonata was conceived as a tribute to the baroque masters Couperin and Rameau and has a beautiful intimate atmosphere \nThe Janácek ‘Pohádka’ (Fairytale) is inspired by an epic Russian poem and rounds off the first half of the concert on a fantastic note. \nAfter the break we set sail for the Beethoven trio: The name ‘Archduke’ refers to the dedication from Rudolph of Austria\, an amateur pianist\, a friend and piano student of Beethoven. The title shadows a bit for the wonderful inspired piece\, which happened to become the last piece that Beethoven performed in public. His deafness was at this point so grave that he could not hear himself – let alone the violin and cello. Despite the intense anguish Beethoven must have felt at this time\, he composes a piece of great beauty and optimism. The programme is a tour de force – all pieces playing up to the large\, wonderful Beethoven trio that is one of Beethoven’s greatest works. \nTickets: £20 (free to full-time students and carers) – available to book via the Hellens website

SUMMARY:Male Voice Choir Spectacular
DESCRIPTION:70 Voices. One Roof. One Unmissable Night: Male Voice Choir Spectacular Set to Shake Great Malvern Priory \nMalvern is set to resonate with powerful harmony this spring as three dynamic male voice choirs unite for one unforgettable musical event. \nOn Saturday 18 April 2026 at 7pm\, the stunning Great Malvern Priory will host a Male Voice Choir Spectacular – a rare coming together of voices\, tradition\, and sheer vocal power. \nLeading the evening is Malvern Male Voice Choir\, proudly part of the town’s musical heartbeat for over a century. They’ll be joined by two exceptional visiting ensembles: the vibrant Bois Goetre-Hen Male Choir from Bridgend\, South Wales\, and the newly united Vauxhall Luton Male Voice Choir\, blending proud Bedfordshire legacies into one exciting sound. \nBois Goetre-Hen may be one of Wales’ newer choirs – founded in 2009 – but it’s already hitting remarkable heights\, chalking up an astonishing number of performances – this concert in Malvern being its 350th – with a fresh\, modern repertoire alongside beloved Welsh classics. \nMeanwhile\, Vauxhall Luton Male Voice Choir represents a bold new chapter\, formed from the merger of two long-standing choirs\, bringing renewed energy\, ambition\, and musical flair. \nMalvern’s own conductor\, Charles Pavey\, explains: ‘Malvern Male Voice Choir has been a well-known part of the town’s musical fabric since 1922. During last year both of the visiting choirs contacted us separately and\, very quickly\, the idea of a massed choir concert was born. We are wishing to stage something very special and our visitors are wishing to explore the beauty of the Malvern Hills and enjoy the glories of the best acoustic in town! So come and enjoy a couple of hours of song with the considerable sound of three choirs\, offering a wonderfully varied mix of music to guarantee a thoroughly entertaining evening.’ \nInterval refreshments available. \nDon’t miss your chance to experience the thrilling sound of three choirs as one – this is Malvern at its musical best. \nTickets: £15 (adults) / £5 (under 18s) – available to book online as well as on the door

Their long-standing effervescent collaboration has been described as “adventurous and beautiful” (Mark Radcliffe\, Radio 2) “exquisite and thrilling” (The Guardian) with “a generosity of spirit and joie de vivre that seems to emanate from every minute of their recorded output as well as from their exuberant live shows” (Folk Radio UK). \nTheir fifth studio album Tender was released at the end of 2022 to far-reaching acclaim. An arresting record exploring the power in vulnerability\, the tenderness of collective wounds and the strength in kindness\, it was hailed “a beguiling blend of ancient and modern” (The Times) and “both nurturing and raw\, a sensitive response to the times we are living in” (Daily Info).\nTender entered the Official Indie Album Charts at number 18\, the Official Indie Album Breakers Chart at number 3 (rare accolades for British folk!) before spending a whole year in the Official Folk Chart Top 40. \nDoors open 7.00pm\nConcert starts 7.30pm
