Along the way\, explore Victorian architecture\, Great Malvern Priory\, connections to composer Edward Elgar\, and sites celebrated through Malvern’s many blue plaques\, commemorating notable residents and visitors. \nWhether you’re a first-time visitor or a lifelong resident\, you’ll leave with a deeper appreciation for Malvern’s cultural and historical legacy. \nDates and times\nThe 90-minute tours operate every Saturday and Monday from April 2026 to October 2026\, except 13 July and 12 September\, starting at 10.30am from Malvern Tourist Information Centre on Church Street (contact: 01684 892289). \nAll walks are subject to guide availability. \nTickets\nThe cost is £7 for adults; 14 – 16 year olds go free. \nTickets are available online via TicketSource or at the Malvern Tourist Information Centre. If Ticketsource shows ‘sold out’\, more tickets may be available. \nPlease book in advance to avoid disappointment. DESCRIPTION:About the walk\nDiscover the rich heritage of one of England’s most charming spa towns\, famed for its invigorating Water Cure. \nJoin one of Malvern Civic Society’s volunteer guides to trace the town’s evolution\, from a 19th century spa destination\, to its role in World War II as an important centre for secret radar development. Along the way\, explore Victorian architecture\, Great Malvern Priory\, connections to composer Edward Elgar\, and sites celebrated through Malvern’s many blue plaques\, commemorating notable residents and visitors. \nWhether you’re a first-time visitor or a lifelong resident\, you’ll leave with a deeper appreciation for Malvern’s cultural and historical legacy. \nDates and times\nThe 90-minute tours operate every Saturday and Monday from April 2026 to October 2026\, except 13 July and 12 September\, starting at 10.30am from Malvern Tourist Information Centre on Church Street (contact: 01684 892289). \nAll walks are subject to guide availability. \nTickets\nThe cost is £7 for adults; 14 – 16 year olds go free. \nTickets are available online via TicketSource or at the Malvern Tourist Information Centre. If Ticketsource shows ‘sold out’\, more tickets may be available. \nPlease book in advance to avoid disappointment. Ten places are available on each walk: four are available to book through Malvern Tourist Information Centre either in person or on 01684 892289; the other six are available to book online at Ticketsource (small booking fee applies online). Please check the Priory Church calendar to confirm that a tour is going ahead on the day of your visit. \nDonations are welcomed and all money from the tours goes towards the ongoing repairs and restoration of the Priory building and the medieval glass windows. \nIn addition to the scheduled Saturday tours\, groups tours are available by prior arrangement on any day between 9am and 5pm as long as the Priory is not being used for another event. SUMMARY:Guided Tour of Great Malvern Station (Heritage Open Days)
DESCRIPTION:Great Malvern is fortunate to have one of the best preserved stations in the country; it has recently benefited from a major refurbishment. \nGreat Malvern station was opened by the Worcester and Hereford Railway in 1860 and the present buildings\, by architect Edmund Wallace Elmslie\, were completed in 1862. The Midland Railway and the London and North Western Railway collaborated on the construction cost; the solicitor\, Samuel Carter\, was also solicitor to both of these major companies. It was later absorbed by the Great Western Railway. \nLocal landowner Lady Emily Foley was a key sponsor of the building of the station. She had a waiting room made for her exclusive use at Great Malvern Station. \nThe station celebrated its 150th birthday on 23 May 2010 with the unveiling of a plaque and a special train. Along the way\, explore Victorian architecture\, Great Malvern Priory\, connections to composer Edward Elgar\, and sites celebrated through Malvern’s many blue plaques\, commemorating notable residents and visitors. \nWhether you’re a first-time visitor or a lifelong resident\, you’ll leave with a deeper appreciation for Malvern’s cultural and historical legacy. \nDates and times\nThe 90-minute tours operate every Saturday and Monday from April 2026 to October 2026\, except 13 July and 12 September\, starting at 10.30am from Malvern Tourist Information Centre on Church Street (contact: 01684 892289). \nAll walks are subject to guide availability. \nTickets\nThe cost is £7 for adults; 14 – 16 year olds go free. \nTickets are available online via TicketSource or at the Malvern Tourist Information Centre.
