SUMMARY:Malvern Hills Literary Loop: Tolkien\, Lewis\, Darwin & Dickens
DESCRIPTION:Legendary fantasy authors JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis were frequent visitors to the Malvern Hills around the middle of the 20th century and the distinctive landscape may have inspired features of Middle Earth and Narnia\, like the Giant’s Cave from the Hobbit and the Victorian gas lamps from The Lion\, the Witch & the Wardrobe. \nA century earlier\, authors Charles Darwin and Charles Dickens visited Malvern for the Water Cure and most of the treatment centres and guest houses still remain. \nThe Malvern Hills Literary Loop starts at the Mr. Tumnus bench in Priory Park and heads up past Knotsford House where Dickens stayed to Lewis’s former school Cherbourg House before pausing at the Lewis Memorial in Rosebank Gardens and following the gas lamps up to St. Ann’s Well cafe. \nAfter admiring the views around North Hill\, the trail descends to Alexandra Rd where Lewis’s close friend & biographer George Sayers lived\, opposite the former home of composer Edward Elgar. \nThe loop then heads up past Montreal House where Darwin stayed during his daughter’s treatment and past Lewis & Tolkien’s favourite pub The Unicorn Inn before passing the Hobbit door and down to Malvern Priory to find Anne Darwin’s grave and potentially the original Narnian gas lamp. \nDates and booking\nThe walks are available on many dates\, often with the option of two start times on the same day. For more information\, including prices\, availability and to book. visit the Malvern Hills Literary Loop: Tolkien\, Lewis\, Darwin & Dickens page on Airbnb.

SUMMARY:Book Signing by Local Cookbook Author Suki Pantal
DESCRIPTION:Malvern’s own Suki Pantal serves up a feast with her new cookbook \nMalvern food lovers\, get ready for something truly delicious. Local resident Suki Pantal\, who has called Malvern home for the past ten years\, is about to release her brand-new cookbook\, No Worries\, Just Chicken Curries\, published by Nourish Books on 11 November 2025. \nTo celebrate the launch\, Suki will be signing copies of her cookbook at the Malvern Book Cooperative\, St Ann’s Road\, Great Malvern\, at 3.30pm on Saturday 15 November 2025. Expect tastings of her famous chicken dishes\, wine pairings\, and plenty of behind-the-scenes stories from the book. \nIf you enjoy Suki’s monthly column in the Malvern Gazette or have caught her lively cooking demos at food festivals at the Three Counties Showground\, Great Malvern Food Festival or around the UK\, you already know her passion for authentic Indian flavours and her knack for making them wonderfully approachable. Many will also remember Suki’s appearance on Channel 4’s Great Cookbook Challenge with Jamie Oliver in 2022\, where her Old Delhi Butter Chicken wowed the judges and first sparked the idea for this very book. \nNow\, in her second book\, Suki turns the spotlight on India’s most beloved meat – chicken – bringing together 70 mouth-watering chicken recipes and 30 vegetable sides from every corner of India. \nFrom lush Malabari Chicken Curry from Kerala to fiery Mangalorean Ghee Roast and vibrant Kathi rolls of Kolkata\, Suki’s recipes celebrate the depth and variety of Indian home cooking while keeping the techniques simple and achievable in a British kitchen. Each recipe comes with the warmth of family stories and the wisdom of generations of Punjabi cooks\, a reminder that the best food is always tied to love\, memory and tradition. \nNo Worries\, Just Chicken Curries is already creating a buzz – trending on Amazon UK’s Hot New Releases in the Indian Cookbook category! \nThe book will be available to buy in Malvern from Malvern Book Cooperative and Rossiter Books. \nWhether you are a seasoned curry cook or a complete beginner\, No Worries\, Just Chicken Curries is a delicious invitation to bring the real taste of India into your Malvern kitchen. Come along\, meet Suki\, and discover why this local author is making chicken the talk of the town.

SUMMARY:Lecture: Unusual British Museums by Richard Dodd
DESCRIPTION:Richard has a love of museums\, delighting in visiting the wonderfully eccentric museums that others of us might overlook. He will transport the audience to some of the more unusual and less frequented museums he has visited on his travels. Although many members of the audience will not necessarily be surprised at museums dedicated to teddy bears\, who knew\, for example\, that there exists a museum of baked beans? Do come along to start putting together your holiday itinerary for next year based on the must-see museums that you probably never knew existed. \nAdmission is free to members of the Friends of Malvern Museum (otherwise £3). Refreshments are available for a small charge.
