SUMMARY:The Phantom Raspberry Blower of Old London Town
DESCRIPTION:Written by Spike Milligan and Ronnie Barker\, and adapted by John Hewer \nSomething is rotten in Old London Town… \nIn Victorian England\, a rotten\, raspberry blower is claiming the lives of the upper-classes. The dark alleyways and moonlit graveyards of London are alive with the repetitive dins of the Phantom. \nInspector Corner of the Yard and his faithful sidekick\, Sergeant Bowles\, are fed up with these din-dins. The case is afoot. Will the Phantom be uncloaked? All will be revealed… particularly if the Phantom uncloaks himself. \nImmortalised by The Two Ronnies\, this Jack the Ripper parody is raspberry-jam-packed with Spike Milligan and Ronnie Barker’s love of surreal absurdism\, clever puns\, near-the-knuckle ribaldry\, quick-fire jokes and famous wordplay. \nCelebrating the 50th anniversary of its original broadcast in 1976\, this newly adapted stage play brings the Phantom back to life like never before. \nPresented by Hambledon Productions with the kind permission of Spike Milligan Productions Ltd and Handles for Forks Ltd. \nTickets\n£25.20 – available to book via the Malvern Theatres website

SUMMARY:Don't Go Into The Cellar! presents The Time Machine
DESCRIPTION:Acclaimed actor Jonathan Goodwin plays the Time Traveller in this original one-man adaptation of the classic H.G. Wells scientific romance. Plunging hundreds of thousands of years into the future\, far from being some Utopian paradise\, London has instead become a wasteland populated by the ineffectual Eloi. \nMeanwhile\, underground\, lurking in the darkness lie the horrifying Morlocks! An authentic and faithful take on the source material\, scripted by Jonathan Goodwin and co-directed by Goodwin and Gary Archer.

SUMMARY:Elgar at the Asylum (Autumn in Malvern Festival)
DESCRIPTION:This remarkable new production allows audiences to experience the music and legacy of Sir Edward Elgar through a powerful and unexpected lens. \nElgar at the Asylum is a promenade performance that moves between multiple spaces at Malvern Theatres – cinema\, studio\, foyers and gallery – turning the whole complex into an immersive experience. It takes inspiration from Elgar’s early career as a composer\, when he was commissioned to write music for patients at the Worcester County Pauper and Lunatic Asylum\, later called Powick Hospital. This formative but often overlooked chapter becomes the starting point for a bold and moving reimagining. \nCreated by The Monday Night Club in collaboration with C&T and a host of artistic collaborators including Dancefest and Vamos Theatre\, the production places learning disabled artists at its centre. Their perspectives reshape Elgar’s story through performance\, music\, and contemporary storytelling\, exploring themes of identity\, care\, and creative voice. \nBuilt through an ambitious process of co-creation\, the work balances reverence with innovation. It honours the emotional depth of Elgar’s music while opening new interpretations of cultural heritage\, asking who has the right to tell these stories. Visually striking and emotionally resonant\, Elgar at the Asylum offers a special opportunity to experience a familiar figure anew.
SUMMARY:Finding Barry (Autumn in Malvern Festival)
DESCRIPTION:As part of their fiftieth anniversary celebrations\, the Malvern Theatre Players return to the Festival Theatre to perform a play about Barry Jackson: designer\, director\, manager\, writer and co-founder of the first Malvern Festivals. But who was Barry Jackson? How\, after such a long time\, do you capture the truth about a figure who was friends with Shaw\, Elgar and many famous actors of the time\, some of whom are still household names? \nIn Steve Burford’s original play\, one playwright grapples with the problem – and gets help from some unexpected sources… \nFinding Barry is a light-hearted journey through the life of this fascinating man\, and has been written to provide as many members of the Malvern Theatre Players as possible\, past and present\, with the opportunity to be involved and once again perform on the Festival Theatre stage. \nShow times\nSunday 27 September 2026: 3pm & 5.30pm \nTickets\n£13 including booking fee – available via the Malvern Theatres website
