SUMMARY:The Sound of Music
DESCRIPTION:Our Star Theatre Company makes a much-anticipated return to Malvern Theatres with Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II‘s timeless classic The Sound of Music. This is their 5th community musical and follows their hugely successful and acclaimed productions in the Forum Theatre of Fiddler on the Roof (2024) and Evita (2025). \nThe final collaboration between Rodgers and Hammerstein was destined to become the world’s most beloved musical. In Austria\, 1938\, an exuberant young governess brings music and joy back to a broken family\, only to face danger and intrigue as the Nazis gain power. The inspirational story\, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp\, follows an ebullient postulate who serves as governess to the seven children of the imperious Captain von Trapp\, bringing music and joy to the household. But as the forces of Nazism take hold of Austria\, Maria and the entire von Trapp family must make a moral decision. \nShow times\nWednesday 5 August 2026\, 7pm\nThursday 6 August 2026\, 7pm\nFriday 7 August 2026\, 7pm\nSaturday 8 August 2026\, 2pm\nSaturday 8 August 2026\, 7pm

SUMMARY:Two Chairs (Ink & Curtain Festival)
DESCRIPTION:In the cold stillness of a psychiatric clinic\, two men sit opposite one another. One seems to hold authority\, guiding the conversation with measured precision. The other sits quietly\, offering little\, yet seeming to understand far more than he should. As the exchange develops\, the balance between them starts to shift\, and the room itself feels less certain. \nA young girl named Lucy Parker lingers at the edges of their conversation\, her presence felt long before her story is understood. Memories fracture\, truths slip\, and each question opens the door to something darker. What begins as a clinical assessment becomes an unsettling struggle over power\, identity\, and the stories we tell to survive. \nTwo Chairs is a tense psychological thriller that draws its audience into a world of unease and ambiguity\, where nothing is quite what it seems\, and the most devastating truth waits in the silence. \nShow times\nTuesday 11 August 2026\, 2.30pm\nTuesday 11 August 2026\, 7.30pm \nTickets\n£15 including booking fee – available via the Malvern Theatres website or from the box office on 01684 892277

SUMMARY:Burn Baby Burn: LA Inferno (Ink & Curtain Festival)
DESCRIPTION:LA is burning. \nWhen two old Angelenos lose everything\, they must navigate overwhelming grief\, toxic ash and paperwork purgatory surrounded by clueless celebs and frazzled firefighters. 6000 miles away\, their (very) anxious daughter clings to composure. \nTwo-time Fringe Theatre Awards nominee\, Burn Baby Burn: LA Inferno is a searing tragicomedy exploring the human cost of climate change and the humans fanning the flames. A sharp-witted blend of storytelling\, songs and comic characterization. It asks questions nobody wants to answer like: Why was LA’s biggest reservoir empty? What the hell is a ‘firenado’? And how did ’80s film star Steve Guttenberg become a low-key hero? \nWith a childhood shaped by wildfires and her parents’ home destroyed in The Palisades Fire\, Hunter has transformed personal tragedy into heartbreaking and hilarious theatre. Burn Baby Burn is Erin Hunter’s second solo show\, following the success of critically acclaimed Surfing the Holyland\, which garnered nominations for the Popcorn/BBC New Writing Award and an Offie. Produced by Slackline Productions\, champions of women 35+\, and directed by its founder\, Kristin Duffy. \nShow times\nWednesday 12 August 2026\, 7.30pm \nTickets\n£18 including booking fee (unwaged\, over 60s\, students: £2 off) – available via the Malvern Theatres website and from the box office on 01684 892277

SUMMARY:Wingbeat (Ink & Curtain Festival)
DESCRIPTION:By Emily Henry \nWe meet Jess and Elsie in the local pub. Everything is the same as it was when they were sixteen and dreaming of leaving their small rural town for bigger and better things. But they’re not sixteen anymore\, they’re not sat in a field drinking hooch and they never left. Beneath their reminiscing and the quiet ache for paths not taken lies something else. What does it take to be heard in a community bound by trust where everyone knows everyone? If each tiny decision shapes everything that follows\, how can you know if you’ve done the right thing? \nWingbeat is a story of girlhood\, silence and the cost of breaking it. \nTrigger warning – please note: this performance has references to sex\, rape and abusive behaviours. \nShow times\nMonday 17 August 2026\, 7.30pm\nTuesday 18 August 2026\, 7.30pm \nTickets\n£10 / £8 concessions – available via the Malvern Theatres website and from the box office on 01684 892277

DESCRIPTION:Malvern Theatres Young Company presents Queen and Ben Elton’s worldwide smash-hit musical We Will Rock You. \nSet in a post-apocalyptic future where individuality has been outlawed and music is dictated by algorithms\, the story tracks two young revolutionaries who dare to defy the system to save rock ‘n’ roll. \nThis fist-pumping\, foot-stomping anthem to freedom and self-expression is a musical for our time —unapologetically bold and filled with the timeless power of Queen’s legendary music\, featuring more than 20 iconic hits\, including Bohemian Rhapsody\, We Are the Champions\, Somebody to Love\, Don’t Stop Me Now and\, of course\, We Will Rock You. \nAfter the huge success of last year’s production of Jesus Christ Superstar\, this gifted young company returns under the direction and choreography of Andy Reiss and Katie Leeming of Beyond the Barricade to offer a lively\, inventive take on this explosive\, rock-infused spectacle – showing the power of music and individuality and leaving crowds cheering for more. \nAge recommendation: suitable for 10 years + \nShow times\nTuesday 18 August 2026\, 7pm\nWednesday 19 August 2026\, 7pm\nThursday 20 August 2026\, 2pm\nThursday 20 August 2026\, 7pm\nFriday 21 August 2026\, 7pm\nSaturday 22 August 2026\, 2pm\nSaturday 22 August 2026\, 7pm

SUMMARY:Belladonna (Ink & Curtain Festival)
DESCRIPTION:Written by Sarah Hutton and shortlisted for the Malvern Theatres’ Three Counties Talent Hub Stage Writing Competition 2026 \nWhen an unknown woman’s body is found inside a wych-elm tree in Hagley Woods during the Second World War\, a real-life mystery begins which remains unsolved to this day. A romantic assignation gone horribly wrong? A spy caught and executed? A victim of local witchcraft? Or just an ordinary woman in the wrong place at the wrong time? What really happened to ‘Bella’? \nA retiring police sergeant hands the case over to a young constable. Together they sift through the evidence and attempt to make sense of the multiple voices which weave through the witness statements\, correspondence and police reports\, which\, from the very start\, merge fact with fiction. \nDrawing on original historical documents\, this play gives ‘Bella’ back her own voice. What might life might have been like for a woman arriving as an outsider in a close-knit rural community in fearful\, paranoid times? \nShow times\nFriday 28 August 2026\, 7.30pm\nSaturday 29 August 2026\, 2.30pm\nSaturday 29 August 2026\, 7.30pm \nTickets\n£16 including booking fee – available via the Malvern Theatres website and from the box office on 01684 892277
