SUMMARY:Malvern Water Music - Community Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Discover the magic of Malvern’s waters through music and creativity at the Malvern Water Music – Community Workshop\, a Malvern Spa Association project led by award-winning composer Liz Dilnot Johnson. \nJoin composer and musician Liz Dilnot Johnson for a unique and imaginative workshop exploring the sound world of Malvern’s legendary natural springs. The Malvern Water Music – Community Workshop takes place on Saturday 14 June\, from 2pm – 4pm\, at The Octagon Centre. Entry is free\, and everyone aged 12+ is warmly invited to join in. \nThis joyful\, inclusive event is commissioned by the Malvern Spa Association as part of a wider project celebrating the heritage and creative potential of Malvern’s famous waters. \nLed by Liz Dilnot Johnson – an award-winning composer and community music leader based in Malvern – the session offers fun and accessible creative activities for writers\, singers\, nature-lovers\, and anyone keen to try something different. Through sound\, movement\, and words\, participants will explore the bubbling springs and healing history of the local area – and turn that inspiration into something brand new. No experience is necessary – just curiosity and an open mind! \nThe workshop will contribute to the creation of a brand-new collaborative piece that will be performed at Malvern Theatres (Studio One) on Friday 4 July at 7pm. \n“I am so excited to be leading this creative session and to develop ideas together around bubbling springs and Malvern Water\,” says Liz. “Together we will create a new work that will be performed at the Malvern Theatre on July 4th. I love these kinds of workshops where everyone can relax and explore their imagination in different ways. It will be fun!” \nLiz leads several local creative groups including Malvern Cube Sings and Creative Waves MLWC for young adults\, and she runs creative projects both locally and across the UK. Find out more on her website\, where you will also find more information about the event. \nTo book your place (no fixed cost – donate however much you wish)\, visit the Eventbrite booking page.

SUMMARY:Malvern Hills Literary Loop: Tolkien\, Lewis\, Darwin & Dickens
DESCRIPTION:Legendary fantasy authors JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis were frequent visitors to the Malvern Hills around the middle of the 20th century and the distinctive landscape may have inspired features of Middle Earth and Narnia\, like the Giant’s Cave from the Hobbit and the Victorian gas lamps from The Lion\, the Witch & the Wardrobe. \nA century earlier\, authors Charles Darwin and Charles Dickens visited Malvern for the Water Cure and most of the treatment centres and guest houses still remain. \nThe Malvern Hills Literary Loop starts at the Mr. Tumnus bench in Priory Park and heads up past Knotsford House where Dickens stayed to Lewis’s former school Cherbourg House before pausing at the Lewis Memorial in Rosebank Gardens and following the gas lamps up to St. Ann’s Well cafe. \nAfter admiring the views around North Hill\, the trail descends to Alexandra Rd where Lewis’s close friend & biographer George Sayers lived\, opposite the former home of composer Edward Elgar. \nThe loop then heads up past Montreal House where Darwin stayed during his daughter’s treatment and past Lewis & Tolkien’s favourite pub The Unicorn Inn before passing the Hobbit door and down to Malvern Priory to find Anne Darwin’s grave and potentially the original Narnian gas lamp. \nDates and booking\nThe walks are available on many dates\, often with the option of two start times on the same day. For more information\, including prices\, availability and to book. visit the Malvern Hills Literary Loop: Tolkien\, Lewis\, Darwin & Dickens page on Airbnb.

SUMMARY:The Salt Path (12A)
DESCRIPTION:Based on the book of the same name\, The Salt Path is the profound true story of husband and wife (played by Jason Isaacs and Gillian Anderson respectively)\, Raynor and Moth Winn’s 630-mile trek along the beautiful but rugged Cornish\, Devon and Dorset coastline. \nAfter being forcibly removed from their home\, they make the desperate decision to embark on the walk in the hope that\, in nature\, they will find solace and a sense of acceptance. With severely limited resources\, only a tent and some essentials between them\, every step along the South West Coast Path is a testament to their growing strength and determination.
