SUMMARY:Meditation and Buddhism Class
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Adhisthana to meditate with others and develop your ability to work creatively with your mind. You can either learn to meditate from scratch and develop the foundations for a daily practice or join the regulars to build on what you know and discover how to apply yourself effectively in meditation. \nAs of December 2025\, classes are being held on Mondays from 7.30pm – 9.30pm and are open to participants of all levels of experience. Please note there is no class on 22 or 29 December 2025. \nYou are welcome to arrive 15 minutes before the start. You’ll be greeted at the entrance by someone who will direct you where to go and help you with any queries. \nThe class takes place in a room on the first floor and is\, as a consequence\, unfortunately not accessible. \nIn the first half of the session\, we meditate together; this is followed by a tea break. In the second half\, we learn about the teachings of the Buddha with the chance to engage in discussion and ask questions. \nThe class is led by a team of members of the Triratna Buddhist Order and those who are training for ordination. \nIf you would like more information\, you can call Adhisthana on 01531 641726 or email us (otherwise just turn up!).

SUMMARY:Becoming Victoria Wood (15)
DESCRIPTION:Victoria Wood remains one of Britain’s most cherished entertainers – a comic genius whose work reshaped the landscape of British humour. But behind the joyous persona – the singer\, the satirist\, the sharp-witted writer – lay a young woman navigating insecurity\, anger\, and self-doubt. Told in her own words and through the voices of those who knew her best\, the film uncovers the formative experiences and personal battles that powered Victoria’s unmatched ability to make the nation laugh. \nDirected by: Catherine Abbott\nCast includes: Dawn French\, Jennifer Saunders\, Maxine Peake

SUMMARY:Remorques (U) (Malvern French Film Centre)
DESCRIPTION:An atmospheric story of the romantic trials of a tugboat captain\, played by the iconic French star Jean Gabin\, a man of courage and duty who leads a hard life. Both for him and other members of the boat’s crew\, existence is sharply divided between the jeopardy of the stormy seas and the safety of life at home with their patient women. When Gabin’s character André meets temptation in the form of the alluring Catherine during a risky rescue\, he comes perilously close to betraying his wife of ten years. \nDescribed as a timeless masterpiece\, Remorques reunites the legendary couple from the pre-war classic Quai des Brumes\, Jean Gabin and Michèle Morgan. SUMMARY:Malvern Hills Literary Loop: Tolkien\, Lewis\, Darwin & Dickens
DESCRIPTION:Legendary fantasy authors JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis were frequent visitors to the Malvern Hills around the middle of the 20th century and the distinctive landscape may have inspired features of Middle Earth and Narnia\, like the Giant’s Cave from The Hobbit and the Victorian gas lamps from The Lion\, the Witch & the Wardrobe. \nA century earlier\, authors Charles Darwin and Charles Dickens visited Malvern for the Water Cure and most of the treatment centres and guest houses still remain. \nThe Malvern Hills Literary Loop starts at the Mr. Tumnus bench in Priory Park and heads up past Knotsford House where Dickens stayed to Lewis’s former school Cherbourg House before pausing at the Lewis Memorial in Rosebank Gardens and following the gas lamps up to St. Ann’s Well cafe. \nAfter admiring the views around North Hill\, the trail descends to Alexandra Rd where Lewis’s close friend & biographer George Sayers lived\, opposite the former home of composer Edward Elgar. \nThe loop then heads up past Montreal House where Darwin stayed during his daughter’s treatment and past Lewis & Tolkien’s favourite pub The Unicorn Inn before passing the Hobbit door and down to Malvern Priory to find Anne Darwin’s grave and potentially the original Narnian gas lamp. \nDates and booking\nThe walks are available on many dates\, often with the option of two start times on the same day. SUMMARY:The Met: I Puritani
DESCRIPTION:The Met: Live in HD 2025–26 Season – a new production of Vincenzo Bellini’s I Puritani \nFor gorgeous melody\, spellbinding coloratura\, and virtuoso vocal fireworks\, this opera has few equals. On 10 January 2026\, the first new Met production of Bellini’s final masterpiece in nearly half a century — a striking staging by Charles Edwards\, who makes his company directorial debut after many successes as a set designer — arrives in cinemas around the world. The Met has assembled a world-beating quartet of stars\, conducted by Marco Armiliato\, for the demanding principal roles. Soprano Lisette Oropesa and tenor Lawrence Brownlee are Elvira and Arturo\, brought together by love and torn apart by the political rifts of the English Civil War\, with baritone Artur Ruciński as Riccardo\, betrothed to Elvira against her will\, and bass-baritone Christian Van Horn as Elvira’s sympathetic uncle\, Giorgio.

SUMMARY:John Cleese Packs It In (12A)
DESCRIPTION:Will he make it home … or is this the end of the road? \nAt the age of eighty five\, John Cleese sets off on what might be his final European tour – five countries\, sixteen cities\, twenty-three shows\, and retaining just two original body parts. “John Cleese Packs It In” is a wry\, behind-the-scenes portrait of a comedy legend on the road\, battling various ailments\, chaotic travel\, and his own stubborn refusal to stop. \nSpanning six weeks on the road\, the film captures Cleese unfiltered and on the move – riffing on life\, fame\, and the absurdity of getting old in front of thousands of fans. As he reflects on a stage career that began in 1963\, the question lingers: is this the end of the road? \nWith unique and intimate access and showing unexpected tenderness\, this is a documentary about legacy\, laughter\, and the dignity of bowing out… however reluctantly. \nDirected by: Andy Curd\nCast includes: John Cleese
