SUMMARY:Malvern Pastel Artists
DESCRIPTION:Who are we?\nMalvern Pastel Artists is a new community art group starting in 2026 meeting fortnightly. We would like to welcome other local pastel artists to create in a relaxed social space. The group is not a tutored class. Open to all abilities\, beginners are welcome to join. There will be some beginner-friendly art materials available for those new to pastels. \nWhat do we mean by pastels?\nWhat we love about pastels is that it’s drawing and painting combined in one – with intense colours closer to the raw pigment than other media. We define pastels as including soft pastels\, hard pastels\, pan pastels\, oil pastels\, charcoal\, graphite\, crayons\, any pencils and stick form media. Many of us are mixed-media artists and combine pastels with other media – watercolour\, for example. \nWhen?\nOne morning and one early evening session each month\, starting on 16 January 2026. (N.B. There is no session scheduled for the first Friday in April 2026\, which is Good Friday.) You are free to choose when to attend via our booking system (up to 20 people per session due to room size): \n\n1st Friday of the month: morning – 9.30am -12 noon\n3rd Friday of the month: evening – 6pm – 8.30 pm\n\nCosts\n£6 annual membership for 2026 (£0.50 a month) and £5 per booked session. Membership will be required to attend sessions and session tickets can be booked in advance. \nEmail: malvernpastelartists@hotmail.com

SUMMARY:Rebuilding (12A) (Borderlines Film Festival)
DESCRIPTION:Josh O’Connor delivers a restrained but astoundingly expressive performance as cowboy Dusty whose Colorado ranch has been devastated by wildfires. Thomas\, ‘Dusty’\, is shattered when his farmland is completely destroyed by fire. With nothing to call his own\, he winds up in a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) camp\, living in a trailer alongside others who have lost their homes. Adversity offers opportunities; Dusty manages to find community with his neighbours while reconnecting with his nineyear old daughter and ex-wife Ruby. Quiet and meditative for a neo-Western\, this is a moving portrait of resilience and human connection in the aftermath of loss\, against the backdrop of the magnificent Colorado landscape. \nDIRECTOR: Max Walker-Silverman\nSTARRING: Josh O’Connor\, Lily LaTorre\, Meghann Fahy\nUS\, 2025\n1 HOUR 36 MINUTES\nENGLISH \nShow times\nFriday 20 March 2026 at 5.00pm\nSaturday 21 March 2026 at 7.30pm

SUMMARY:Seeds (PG) (Borderlines Film Festival)
DESCRIPTION:This documentary feature debut\, filmed over seven years\, vividly captures a community of Black farming families in the American South. \nIn a narrative that begins and ends with a funeral\, Shyne sits with the everyday lives of this southern community\, where the importance of intergenerational ties – with great-grandchildren living on the same land – is paramount. For these farmers\, campaigning against systemic racial discrimination is as much a part of their livelihood as growing food; government subsidies automatically favour white agriculture. SUMMARY:Köln 75 (15) (Borderlines Film Festival)
DESCRIPTION:In 1970s Germany\, up-and-coming promoter Vera Brandes organises a concert for jazz pianist Keith Jarrett at the Cologne Opera. \nKöln 75 fictionalises the true story behind one of the best-selling jazz records of all time\, Keith Jarrett’s “Köln Concert” from 1975. The event almost failed to happen – before a formidable German teenager\, 18-year-old Vera Brandes\, who started her career as a concert promoter while still at school\, pulls out all the stops. Vera believes in the power of music and has never seen anyone play in the way that Keith Jarrett does. Made without Jarrett’s or the record company’s cooperation\, this is a film about Brandes\, her youthful energy and rebellious spirit. \nDIRECTOR: Ido Fluk\nSTARRING: Mala Emde\, John Magaro\, Michael Chernus\, Alexander Scheer\, Ulrich Tukur\nGERMANY/POLAND/BELGIUM\, 2025\n1 HOUR 56 MINUTES\nGERMAN/ENGLISH + ENGLISH SUBTITLES \nShow times\nPlease note: Film starts at advertised time\nFriday 20 March 2026 at 1.45pm\nSaturday 21 March 2026 at 7.00pm

SUMMARY:The Spy Who Came in from the Cold
DESCRIPTION:For the first time ever\, a novel by John le Carré — the unquestioned master of the modern spy genre whose works include Tinker\, Tailor\, Soldier\, Spy and The Night Manager — is brought to life in a thrilling stage adaptation\, which comes to Malvern following a sold-out run at Chichester Festival Theatre and direct from the West End. \nBritish intelligence officer Alec Leamas is weary\, hardened\, and ready to come in from the cold. But when Control\, the Chief of the Circus\, presents one final mission — dangerous\, deceptive\, and deeply personal — Leamas agrees to stay in the game. Sent into enemy territory\, he finds his convictions tested and his defences breached by Liz Gold\, a quietly defiant librarian whose compassion threatens to thaw his frostbitten heart. And what of veteran spymaster George Smiley? What is his role in the operation? \nThis compelling new work written by David Eldridge (Beginning\, Middle) and directed by Jeremy Herrin (A Mirror\, People\, Places & Things) comes to Malvern for just one week. \nShow times\nWednesday 18 March 2026\, 2.30pm\nWednesday 18 March 2026\, 7.30pm\nThursday 19 March 2026\, 2.30pm\nThursday 19 March 2026\, 7.30pm\nFriday 20 March 2026\, 7.30pm\nSaturday 21 March 2026\, 2.30pm\nSaturday 21 March 2026\, 7.30pm

SUMMARY:Souleymane’s Story (12A) at Castlemorton Parish Hall (Borderlines Film Festival)
DESCRIPTION:Steeped in compassion\, Souleymane’s Story combines the pace of a thriller with the emotional gut punch of a social drama. Every second of Souleymane’s new life in France is precious. Having fled Guinea\, his asylum interview looms. He powers through the streets of after dark Paris as an unlicensed delivery rider\, sleeps in hostels and prepares for his make-or-break appointment. Pressure builds as his date with destiny approaches. Boris Lojkine’s portrait of a modern migrant propels us into the precarious world of an otherwise invisible man. An award-winning French production in which the dynamic storytelling is matched by a star-making performance from charismatic newcomer Abou Sangaré. \nDuration: 1 hours 33 minutes\nGenre: Drama

SUMMARY:Hen (15) (Borderlines Film Festival)
DESCRIPTION:A hen’s-eye view of the world reveals the cut-throat nature of existence and puts human flaws into relief in this tragicomic tale from György Pálfi (Hukkle). \nAn animal protagonist – as with Jerzy Skolimowski’s donkey in EO (shown at Borderlines in 2023) – can take you places where people cannot penetrate. This is a coming-of-age story – but of a chicken. Surviving battery farming\, a fox\, traffic\, the dangers of a big city\, a dog and being made into soup\, the hen ends up taking refuge in a crumbling Greek seaside restaurant where a human tragedy is unfolding. A filmmaking tour-de-force with real animals in real locations and a brilliant score\, this is something different. \nDIRECTOR: György Pálfi\nSTARRING: Yannis Kokiasmenos\,\nMaria Diakopanayotou\, Argyris Pandazaras\nGERMANY/GREECE/HUNGARY/\, 2025\n1 HOUR 36 MINUTES\nGREEK/ENGLISH/ITALIAN WITH ENGLISH SUBTITLES \nShow times\nPlease note: Film starts at advertised time\nThursday 19 March 2026 at 5.15pm – Cinema\nFriday 20 March 2026 at 7.45pm – Studio One

SUMMARY:Iron Winter (12A) (Borderlines Film Festival)
DESCRIPTION:A documentary about the struggle by two friends to keep 2\,000 horses – and an ancient tradition – alive during Mongolia’s deadliest winter on record. \nFor countless generations\, the herders of the Tsakhir Valley have protected their horses from ferocious arctic storms by amassing a giant winter herd\, nominating their bravest young men to protect it. The daring tradition served as a brutal coming of age ritual\, until five years ago\, when under increasing environmental pressure\, it abruptly ended. Fearful about the loss of culture\, elders soon vowed to revive it. And two young herders were handed the daunting responsibility not only to protect the valley’s herd — but to save its most sacred practice. \nDIRECTOR: Kasimir Burgess\nSTARRING: Chadraa Barsbold\, Dondogsuren Batbold\, Chadraa Dondogsuren\nAUSTRALIA/MONGOLIA\, 2025\n1 HOUR 29 MINUTES\nMONGOLIAN + ENGLISH SUBTITLES \nShow times\nPlease note: Film starts at advertised time\nThursday 19 March 2026 at 1.45pm – Studio One\nSaturday 21 March 2026 at 11.00am – Cinema

SUMMARY:The Leopard (PG) (Borderlines Film Festival)
DESCRIPTION:Visconti’s fabulous epic is set in 1860s Sicily where the Prince of Salina tries to preserve his family’s standing amid tumultuous social upheavals. \nBurt Lancaster plays Principe Don Fabrizio Salina who understands that\, with troops fighting for the unification of Italy\, an ageold way of life is about to disappear. Proud but pragmatic\, he consents to the marriage of his radical nephew Tancredi with Angelica (Claudia Cardinale)\, the beautiful daughter of a rich bourgeois. Based on the novel by Lampedusa\, Visconti’s realisation has everything: an impeccable cast\, stunning cinematography\, monumental battle scenes\, sumptuous costumes\, a breathtaking 45-minute ballroom sequence and a rousing score by Nino Rota. Screening as a tribute to Cardinale who died in September 2025. \nDIRECTOR: Luchino Visconti\nSTARRING: Burt Lancaster\, Claudia Cardinale\, Alain Delon\nITALY\, 1963\n3 HOURS 4 MINUTES\nITALIAN + ENGLISH SUBTITLES

SUMMARY:Our Land (12A) (Borderlines Film Festival)
DESCRIPTION:This thoughtful documentary examines issues around public access to land in England. \n92% of the English countryside is without legal public access. Through organized “mass trespass” events\, Right to Roam seeks to extend this\, but often clashes with landowners. This documentary gives voice to both sides: prominent land authors\, Nick Hayes and Guy Shrubsole\, as well as landowners defending their custodianship. It examines complex issues of access\, conservation\, and longstanding property rights that have shaped the English landscape for over a thousand years. SUMMARY:Sound Of Falling (18) (Borderlines Film Festival)
DESCRIPTION:This ambitious second feature braids together the lives of four generations of girls across the tumult and violence of 20th century Germany. \nOn the river Elbe between Berlin and Hamburg\, a family farm sits in a region affected by both world wars and Cold War divisions between East and West Germany. We home in on Alma in the early 20th century\, Erika in the 1940s\, Angelika in the 1980s\, and Lenka in the present. As time moves both forwards and backwards\, each faces her own fate. It’s a sombre\, beautifully crafted study of Germany’s national trauma\, the effects of violent patriarchy and the haunting emotional inheritance of successive conflicts for young women and girls. \nDIRECTOR: Mascha Schilinski\nSTARRING: Hanna Heckt\, Lena Urzendowsky\, Laeni Geiseler\, Susanne Wuest\nGERMANY\, 2025\n2 HOURS 29 MINUTES\nGERMAN + ENGLISH SUBTITLES

SUMMARY:My Father’s Shadow (12A) (Borderlines Film Festival)
DESCRIPTION:British Nigerian Akinola Davies Jr’s bold and poetic debut is a semi-autobiographical tale set over the course of a single day in Lagos as political unrest looms. \nNigeria\, 1993: Kid brothers Remi and Akin are gifted a day with their estranged father Folarin. Together\, they voyage into Lagos for the first time\, the boys taking in both the colossal city and the obstacles to getting there. Folarin’s mission is threatened by the unfolding presidential election – the first since the military takeover 10 years previously – and the chaos he fears will follow. It is a vivid and intensely personal drama\, a child’s eye view of a mysterious father and a country on the edge of political turmoil. \nDirector: Akinola Davies Jr.\nSTARRING: Sope Dirisu\, Godwin Egbo\, Chibuike Marvelous Egbo\nUK/NIGERIA/IRELAND\, 2025\n1 HOUR 33 MINUTES\nENGLISH/NIGERIAN PIDGIN (NAIJA)/YORUBA + ENGLISH SUBTITLES \nShow times\nPlease note: Film starts at advertised time\nSaturday 14 March 2026 at 4.30pm – Studio One\nWednesday 18 March 2026 at 1.45pm – Cinema

SUMMARY:La Grazia (12A) (Borderlines Film Festival)
DESCRIPTION:Sorrentino (The Consequences of Love\, The Great Beauty) reunites with actor Toni Servillo in this chamber-piece about the final months in office of an Italian president. \nPresident Mariano De Santis – grieving his wife’s death – retreats into isolation within his vast presidential palace\, relying on his trusted confidante and comforted by a predilection for hip-hop. Contemplating his past and the uncertain future\, he confronts questions of power\, love and legacy\, as well as moral crises over euthanasia legislation and whether to ‘pardon’ eligible prisoners before he leaves office. Offbeat humour and a fascination for the intricacies of human nature combine in this intimate drama. \nDIRECTOR: Paolo Sorrentino\nSTARRING: Toni Servillo\, Anna Ferzetti\, Orlando Cinque\nITALY\, 2025\n2 HOURS 11 MINUTES\nITALIAN + ENGLISH SUBTITLES \nShow times\nPlease note: Film starts at advertised time\nSunday 15 March 2026 at 3.30pm\nTuesday 17 March 2026 at 7.30pm
