SUMMARY:Mr Vast (FEAST)
DESCRIPTION:Mr Vast – aka Henry Sargeant – trained as an actor and ‘dark clown’ before veering off into the world of music as frontman for the legendary Wevie Stonder\, described by the BBC as ‘the Monty Python of electronic music’. Building on the same brand of anarchic comedy and wild fusion of musical influences\, Mr Vast is a one-man show that defies easy categorisation: a slapstick cabaret\, a surrealist happening\, an avant-garde concert\, a tragicomic carnival\, an ecstatic ritual. \nTickets: £10 – available to book online at Ticketsource

SUMMARY:Malvern Hills Literary Loop: Tolkien\, Lewis\, Darwin & Dickens
DESCRIPTION:Legendary fantasy authors JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis were frequent visitors to the Malvern Hills around the middle of the 20th century and the distinctive landscape may have inspired features of Middle Earth and Narnia\, like the Giant’s Cave from the Hobbit and the Victorian gas lamps from The Lion\, the Witch & the Wardrobe. \nA century earlier\, authors Charles Darwin and Charles Dickens visited Malvern for the Water Cure and most of the treatment centres and guest houses still remain. \nThe Malvern Hills Literary Loop starts at the Mr. Tumnus bench in Priory Park and heads up past Knotsford House where Dickens stayed to Lewis’s former school Cherbourg House before pausing at the Lewis Memorial in Rosebank Gardens and following the gas lamps up to St. Ann’s Well cafe. \nAfter admiring the views around North Hill\, the trail descends to Alexandra Rd where Lewis’s close friend & biographer George Sayers lived\, opposite the former home of composer Edward Elgar. \nThe loop then heads up past Montreal House where Darwin stayed during his daughter’s treatment and past Lewis & Tolkien’s favourite pub The Unicorn Inn before passing the Hobbit door and down to Malvern Priory to find Anne Darwin’s grave and potentially the original Narnian gas lamp. \nDates and booking\nThe walks are available on many dates\, often with the option of two start times on the same day. For more information\, including prices\, availability and to book. visit the Malvern Hills Literary Loop: Tolkien\, Lewis\, Darwin & Dickens page on Airbnb.

SUMMARY:Gaslight (Swan Theatre Amateur Company)
DESCRIPTION:This is the original stage version of Patrick Hamilton’s classic Victorian thriller\, first performed in the 1930s\, twice filmed and revived at the Old Vic. \nThe play tells the story of a wife who is being persecuted by her husband until she believes she is losing her mind. Items mysteriously disappear from the house\, the gaslight dims without apparent cause and mysterious footsteps are heard from the floor above. Will anyone come to the rescue of this poor tormented woman? What secrets from her husband’s past is Mrs. Manningham yet to discover? \nThe action takes place over the course of just one evening in the slightly seedy living room of a four-storey house in an unfashionable part of Victorian London. \nThe play is directed for STAC by Jane Lush. \nShow times\nWednesday 19 November 2025\, 7.30pm\nThursday 20 November 2025\, 7.30pm\nFriday 21 November 2025\, 7.30pm\nSaturday 22 November 2025\, 7.30pm \nN.B. The same production is also being performed in Worcester from 22 – 25 October.
