SUMMARY:Exhibition: Romancing the 18th Century from Rococo to Stage
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition opens Friday 29 May and runs until Saturday 26 September 2026 \nIn collaboration with the Malvern Theatre Players\, this exhibition will combine the museum’s collection with costume. \nWith the recent success of other exhibitions at the V&A focusing on Mary Antoinette\, both the real woman and the 2006 film\, we take a closer at look at why this period is so often romanticised. \nFrom extreme silhouette to powered wigs\, why can’t we get enough of 18th century fashion? \nThe Museum of Fashion Malvern is open every Friday and Saturday\, 10am – 4pm.

DESCRIPTION:Tenbury Museum will feature informative special displays of people who contributed to the history of the town through their service or creative talents. \nMr Edward Goff\, who endowed the Victorian School which houses the museum\, will be one of the people featured in special displays of archival photographs and informative text. Other names will include James Cranston\, the designer of the town’s iconic Pump Rooms\, and Thomas Mantle\, a coal carver who tried to give Princess Victoria a carving as her carriage stopped to change horses at a local hotel. SUMMARY:National Dance Company Wales Present Blue | Glas
DESCRIPTION:National Dance Company Wales present Blue | Glas \nLet NDC Wales hold your hand through a strikingly beautiful evening of dance. \nWhen words fall short\, movement and touch can ground us. \nCreated fourteen years ago and remade in 2026 with NDCWales\, ‘Ordinary Courage’ by Theo Clinkard is a sincere reflection on grief\, loss and the quiet strength of human connection. \nSet to a haunting score that includes compositions by Scarlatti and Bach\, this is warm\, deeply moving and cathartic. It will linger with you long after the movement settles. \n‘Untamed’ is a visceral new work by Alesandra Seutin (2026 Olivier Award Nominee and Sadler’s Wells Associate Artist) rooted in the human urge to run. \nBodies charged with emotion coil like springs ready to release. \nTogether we move forward. Are we running away or towards something new? \nAccompanied by a driving soundtrack that includes traditional Welsh instruments and ancestral voices\, the athletic\, commanding dance will invigorate the senses\, cleanse the soul and leave you breathless. \nTickets\nVarious prices – book via the Malvern Theatres website

SUMMARY:Malvern Hills Literary Loop: Tolkien\, Lewis\, Darwin and Dickens
DESCRIPTION:Legendary fantasy authors JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis were frequent visitors to the Malvern Hills around the middle of the 20th century and the distinctive landscape may have inspired features of Middle Earth and Narnia\, like the Giant’s Cave from The Hobbit and the Victorian gas lamps from The Lion\, the Witch & the Wardrobe. \nA century earlier\, authors Charles Darwin and Charles Dickens visited Malvern for the Water Cure and most of the treatment centres and guest houses still remain. \nThe Malvern Hills Literary Loop starts at the Mr. Tumnus bench in Priory Park and heads up past Knotsford House where Dickens stayed to Lewis’s former school Cherbourg House before pausing at the Lewis Memorial in Rosebank Gardens and following the gas lamps up to St. Ann’s Well cafe. \nAfter admiring the views around North Hill\, the trail descends to Alexandra Rd where Lewis’s close friend & biographer George Sayer lived\, opposite the former home of composer Edward Elgar. \nThe loop then heads up past Montreal House where Darwin stayed during his daughter’s treatment and past Lewis & Tolkien’s favourite pub The Unicorn Inn before passing the Hobbit door and down to Malvern Priory to find Anne Darwin’s grave and potentially the original Narnian gas lamp. \nDates and booking\nThe walks are available on many dates\, often with the option of two start times on the same day. For more information\, including prices\, availability and to book. visit the Malvern Hills Literary Loop: Tolkien\, Lewis\, Darwin & Dickens page on Airbnb

SUMMARY:Tenbury Tales (Heritage Open Days)
DESCRIPTION:Tenbury Museum will feature informative special displays of people who contributed to the history of the town through their service or creative talents. \nMr Edward Goff\, who endowed the Victorian School which houses the museum\, will be one of the people featured in special displays of archival photographs and informative text. SUMMARY:Guided Tour of Great Malvern Station (Heritage Open Days)
DESCRIPTION:Great Malvern is fortunate to have one of the best preserved stations in the country; it has recently benefited from a major refurbishment. \nGreat Malvern station was opened by the Worcester and Hereford Railway in 1860 and the present buildings\, by architect Edmund Wallace Elmslie\, were completed in 1862. The Midland Railway and the London and North Western Railway collaborated on the construction cost; the solicitor\, Samuel Carter\, was also solicitor to both of these major companies. It was later absorbed by the Great Western Railway. \nLocal landowner Lady Emily Foley was a key sponsor of the building of the station. She had a waiting room made for her exclusive use at Great Malvern Station. \nThe station celebrated its 150th birthday on 23 May 2010 with the unveiling of a plaque and a special train. An additional part of this celebration was the reinstatement of some of the highly decorated lighting columns around the cab road at the front of the station. \nPlease ensure that you book your free ticket in advance for this event\, either for Saturday or Wednesday\, on Ticketsource; visit the Heritage Open Days website for further details. \nTimings\nSaturday 12 September 2026: 2pm\nWednesday 16 September 2026: 2pm
