SUMMARY:Meditation and Buddhism Class
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Adhisthana to meditate with others and develop your ability to work creatively with your mind. You can either learn to meditate from scratch and develop the foundations for a daily practice or join the regulars to build on what you know and discover how to apply yourself effectively in meditation. \nAs of December 2025\, classes are being held on Mondays from 7.30pm – 9.30pm and are open to participants of all levels of experience. Please note there is no class on 22 or 29 December 2025. \nYou are welcome to arrive 15 minutes before the start. You’ll be greeted at the entrance by someone who will direct you where to go and help you with any queries. \nThe class takes place in a room on the first floor and is\, as a consequence\, unfortunately not accessible. \nIn the first half of the session\, we meditate together; this is followed by a tea break. In the second half\, we learn about the teachings of the Buddha with the chance to engage in discussion and ask questions. \nThe class is led by a team of members of the Triratna Buddhist Order and those who are training for ordination. \nIf you would like more information\, you can call Adhisthana on 01531 641726 or email us (otherwise just turn up!).

SUMMARY:The Picton Garden (Garden Open for National Garden Scheme)
DESCRIPTION:One-and-a-half-acre garden attached to Old Court Nurseries west of Malvern Hills. Bulbs and a multitude of woodland plants in spring. Interesting perennials and shrubs in August. In late September and early October\, colourful borders display the National Plant Collection of Michaelmas daisies\, against a backdrop of autumn colouring trees and shrubs. A plethora of unusual plants to be seen\, including more than 100 different ferns and over 300 varieties of snowdrop. \nFor this open day\, you can either book your tickets online in advance or just turn up and pay on the day (cash or card). \nAdmission\nAdult: £6\nChild: Free \nDates in 2026\nFriday 19 June\, 5pm – 8pm\nFriday 24 July\, 5pm – 8pm \nLight refreshments will be available. Along the way\, explore Victorian architecture\, Great Malvern Priory\, connections to composer Edward Elgar\, and sites celebrated through Malvern’s many blue plaques\, commemorating notable residents and visitors. \nWhether you’re a first-time visitor or a lifelong resident\, you’ll leave with a deeper appreciation for Malvern’s cultural and historical legacy. \nDates and times\nThe 90-minute tours operate every Saturday and Monday from April 2026 to October 2026\, starting at 10.30am from Malvern Tourist Information Centre on Church Street (contact: 01684 892289). \nAll walks are subject to guide availability. \nTickets\nThe cost is £7 for adults; 14 – 16 year olds go free. \nTickets are available online via TicketSource or at the Malvern Tourist Information Centre. If Ticketsource shows ‘sold out’\, more tickets may be available. \nPlease book in advance to avoid disappointment. DESCRIPTION:On a Role Theatre Company presents Emmeline Pankhurst – Angel or Anarchist?\, written by Chris Jaeger and starring Liz Grand \nEmmeline Pankhurst is one of the most influential and well-known British women ever to have lived. She fought tirelessly to win the vote for women. She was imprisoned on a number of occasions and frequently went on hunger strike. Having failed to make any impression on the male electorate and parliamentarians for nearly three decades\, she became a strong proponent of Direct Action. The suffragettes threw stones at politicians\, set fire to letter boxes\, torched buildings\, chained themselves to railings\, and threw themselves under horses. \nAlthough they were eventually successful\, many suffragettes suffered terribly during the campaign. Emmeline had her critics. Many people were of the opinion that\, had the suffragettes been less confrontational\, the franchise would have been extended to women much earlier. They regarded Emmeline as someone who had hindered the fight rather than helped it. DESCRIPTION:On a Role Theatre Company presents Emmeline Pankhurst – Angel or Anarchist?\, written by Chris Jaeger and starring Liz Grand \nEmmeline Pankhurst is one of the most influential and well-known British women ever to have lived. She fought tirelessly to win the vote for women. She was imprisoned on a number of occasions and frequently went on hunger strike. Having failed to make any impression on the male electorate and parliamentarians for nearly three decades\, she became a strong proponent of Direct Action. The suffragettes threw stones at politicians\, set fire to letter boxes\, torched buildings\, chained themselves to railings\, and threw themselves under horses. \nAlthough they were eventually successful\, many suffragettes suffered terribly during the campaign. Emmeline had her critics. Many people were of the opinion that\, had the suffragettes been less confrontational\, the franchise would have been extended to women much earlier. They regarded Emmeline as someone who had hindered the fight rather than helped it.
