SUMMARY:Tenbury Tales (Heritage Open Days)
DESCRIPTION:Tenbury Museum will feature informative special displays of people who contributed to the history of the town through their service or creative talents. \nMr Edward Goff\, who endowed the Victorian School which houses the museum\, will be one of the people featured in special displays of archival photographs and informative text. Other names will include James Cranston\, the designer of the town’s iconic Pump Rooms\, and Thomas Mantle\, a coal carver who tried to give Princess Victoria a carving as her carriage stopped to change horses at a local hotel. An odd link is Mr Goff’s endowment arose from a fortune amassed through becoming a coal merchant following a very poor childhood! \nFor more information on the local personalities featured\, visit the Heritage Open Days website. \nTimings\nFriday 11 September 2026: 10.30am – 1pm\nSaturday 12 September 2026: 10.30am – 1pm\nTuesday 15 September 2026: 10.30am – 1pm\nWednesday 16 September 2026: 10.30am – 1pm\nThursday 17 September 2026: 10.30am – 1pm\nFriday 18 September 2026: 10.30am – 1pm\nSaturday 19 September 2026: 10.30am – 1pm

SUMMARY:Exhibition: Romancing the 18th Century from Rococo to Stage
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition opens Friday 29 May and runs until Saturday 26 September 2026 \nIn collaboration with the Malvern Theatre Players\, this exhibition will combine the museum’s collection with costume. \nWith the recent success of other exhibitions at the V&A focusing on Mary Antoinette\, both the real woman and the 2006 film\, we take a closer at look at why this period is so often romanticised. \nFrom extreme silhouette to powered wigs\, why can’t we get enough of 18th century fashion? \nThe Museum of Fashion Malvern is open every Friday and Saturday\, 10am – 4pm.

SUMMARY:Visit Little Malvern Priory (Heritage Open Days)
DESCRIPTION:The painted glass in the East Window portrays Edward V and his family – one of only two portrayals in existence. \nThe history of the Priory can be traced back to the 12th century when it was established as a small Benedictine community of about fifteen monks under the control of Worcester Cathedral. \nThe most famous of the Episcopal Visitations was that undertaken by Bishop Alcock in 1480\, when he found ‘the great ruin of the Church and place’\, and when he discharged the Prior and monks ‘by reasons of their demerits’. According to his own account they ‘builded their Church and put their place of lodging’ into a sufficient state of repair so that the monks were able to return to their Priory in 1482\, having spent two years under correction at Gloucester Abbey. \nBishop Alcock was the tutor to Edward V\, with his brother the Duke of York\, one of the Princes in the Tower. The East window of the Priory portrays Edward V and other members of his family – one of only two portrayals of him. \nFor full details\, visit the Heritage Open Days website. \nTimings\nThursday 17 September 2026: 2pm – 4pm\nFriday 18 September 2026: 2pm – 4pm\nSaturday 19 September 2026: 2pm – 4pm

DESCRIPTION:Acclaimed actor Jonathan Goodwin plays the Time Traveller in this original one-man adaptation of the classic H.G. Wells scientific romance. SUMMARY:Guided Tour of Great Malvern Station (Heritage Open Days)
DESCRIPTION:Great Malvern is fortunate to have one of the best preserved stations in the country; it has recently benefited from a major refurbishment. \nGreat Malvern station was opened by the Worcester and Hereford Railway in 1860 and the present buildings\, by architect Edmund Wallace Elmslie\, were completed in 1862. The Midland Railway and the London and North Western Railway collaborated on the construction cost; the solicitor\, Samuel Carter\, was also solicitor to both of these major companies. It was later absorbed by the Great Western Railway. \nLocal landowner Lady Emily Foley was a key sponsor of the building of the station. She had a waiting room made for her exclusive use at Great Malvern Station. \nThe station celebrated its 150th birthday on 23 May 2010 with the unveiling of a plaque and a special train. An additional part of this celebration was the reinstatement of some of the highly decorated lighting columns around the cab road at the front of the station. \nPlease ensure that you book your free ticket in advance for this event\, either for Saturday or Wednesday\, on Ticketsource; visit the Heritage Open Days website for further details. \nTimings\nSaturday 12 September 2026: 2pm\nWednesday 16 September 2026: 2pm

SUMMARY:Civil War Talk (Heritage Open Days)
DESCRIPTION:Tony Spicer will give a free evening talk about the Battle of Upton at The Tudor House Museum on Tuesday 15 September 2026 from 7pm – 9pm. \nThe Battle of Upton was fought on 28 August 1651 when a New Model Army detachment under the command of Colonel John Lambert made a surprise attack on Royalists defending the Severn crossing at Upton-upon-Severn\, 6 miles downstream of Worcester. In the action that followed\, the Royalist commander Major General Edward Massey was seriously wounded and the surviving Royalists were driven out of the town and north along the Worcester Road. \nThe successful attack allowed Parliamentary forces to approach Worcester from the west and was an important action in completing Cromwell’s investment of Worcester as a prelude to his assault and capture of the city. \nFor this event\, please ensure you book your free place in advance using the details on the Heritage Open Days website\, where you will also find more information about the event. \nTimings\nTuesday 15 September 2026: 7pm – 9pm
