SUMMARY:Armonico Concert: J.S. Bach - St Matthew Passion
DESCRIPTION:Armonico Consort\nDirector Christopher Monks\nEvangelist Nathan Vale\nChristus Alex Jones \nJ.S. Bach vividly\, passionately\, and dramatically brings to life the tale of the Passion of Christ according to Matthew\, in what is possibly the greatest of all the Passion settings and certainly one of the finest choral works ever created. Irrespective of your own spiritual beliefs\, it is a work of genius\, linking the most perfectly formed recitative and powerful choruses with stunning arias in the most dramatic\, almost operatic way. \nArmonico Consort’s most talented soloists\, chorus\, and period instrumentalists will excel as they explore the intense emotions and humanity of the Passion of Christ as illustrated in Bach’s masterpiece.

SUMMARY:Meditation and Buddhism Class
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Adhisthana to meditate with others and develop your ability to work creatively with your mind. You can either learn to meditate from scratch and develop the foundations for a daily practice or join the regulars to build on what you know and discover how to apply yourself effectively in meditation. \nAs of December 2025\, classes are being held on Mondays from 7.30pm – 9.30pm and are open to participants of all levels of experience. Please note there is no class on 22 or 29 December 2025. \nYou are welcome to arrive 15 minutes before the start. You’ll be greeted at the entrance by someone who will direct you where to go and help you with any queries. \nThe class takes place in a room on the first floor and is\, as a consequence\, unfortunately not accessible. \nIn the first half of the session\, we meditate together; this is followed by a tea break. In the second half\, we learn about the teachings of the Buddha with the chance to engage in discussion and ask questions. \nThe class is led by a team of members of the Triratna Buddhist Order and those who are training for ordination. \nIf you would like more information\, you can call Adhisthana on 01531 641726 or email us (otherwise just turn up!).
