DESCRIPTION:A walk through Croome Park reveals the way in which RAF Defford changed the 18th century landscape created by Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown. Along the way\, there are tales of an extraordinary airfield waiting to be told. \nThis secret airbase was where Radar was installed in the aircraft of the Telecommunications Research Establishment (TRE) and tested and developed to help win the Second World War. DESCRIPTION:About the walk\nDiscover the rich heritage of one of England’s most charming spa towns\, famed for its invigorating Water Cure. \nJoin one of Malvern Civic Society’s volunteer guides to trace the town’s evolution\, from a 19th century spa destination\, to its role in World War II as an important centre for secret radar development. Along the way\, explore Victorian architecture\, Great Malvern Priory\, connections to composer Edward Elgar\, and sites celebrated through Malvern’s many blue plaques\, commemorating notable residents and visitors. \nWhether you’re a first-time visitor or a lifelong resident\, you’ll leave with a deeper appreciation for Malvern’s cultural and historical legacy. \nDates and times\nThe 90-minute tours operate every Saturday and Monday from April 2026 to October 2026\, starting at 10.30am from Malvern Tourist Information Centre on Church Street (contact: 01684 892289). \nAll walks are subject to guide availability. \nTickets\nThe cost is £7 for adults; 14 – 16 year olds go free. \nTickets are available online via TicketSource or at the Malvern Tourist Information Centre. If Ticketsource shows ‘sold out’\, more tickets may be available. \nPlease book in advance to avoid disappointment. Ten places are available on each walk: four are available to book through Malvern Tourist Information Centre either in person or on 01684 892289; the other six are available to book online at Ticketsource (small booking fee applies online). Any tickets for a Saturday walk unsold online by noon on Friday\, or tickets for a Monday walk unsold online by 8am on Monday\, will become available to purchase through Malvern Tourist Information Centre during opening hours. Seventeenth-century black-and-white cottage (not open) sits in one of the gardens. Gardens with plenty of places to sit. One new garden and one returning this year. New planting schemes within the group. 19 Winnington Gardens has wildlife photographs and vintage garden\, blacksmith and carpentry tools on display.
