SUMMARY:King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys
DESCRIPTION:Prepare to swing into high gear with King Pleasure & The Biscuit Boys! Celebrating almost three decades of enthralling audiences around the world\, these Kings of Swing promise an evening that guarantees to chase away the blues with their joyous\, high-energy sound. \nKing Pleasure & The Biscuit Boys are more than just a musical act; they are a phenomenon. Having made over 50 TV appearances\, including the whimsically unexpected Teletubbies\, and with 75 radio broadcasts under their belts\, they deliver shows that are not to be missed. Their music is a spirited rejection of the contemporary trends of anger and melancholy in pop and jazz\, instead offering a lively\, toe-tapping escape that is both nostalgic and freshly invigorating.

SUMMARY:The Effect (Malvern Theatre Players)
DESCRIPTION:The Malvern Theatre Players\, resident company of the Coach House Theatre and now in their 49th season\, present The Effect by Lucy Prebble. \n“Love is merely a madness” wrote William Shakespeare in As You Like It\, “and\, I tell you\, deserves well a dark house and a whip as madmen do.” But what is love? Is it merely an effect? A reaction of the nervous system? That’s what Lucy Prebble’s play puts into question through characters cajoling Tristan and serene psychotherapy student Connie who fall in love while undergoing a clinical test for a new antidepressant. \nThe Effect is the production that affirmed Prebble’s gilded status as a playwright-to-watch when it was first staged at the National’s Cottesloe (now Dorfman Theatre) in 2012 following success with The Sugar Syndrome and ENRON. In the years since then\, Prebble has become a household name.
In part thanks to Succession\, but also thanks to I Hate Lucy and Secret Diaries of a Call Girl. \nShow times\nMonday 16 September 2024\, 7.30pm\nTuesday 17 September 2024\, 7.30pm\nWednesday 18 September 2024\, 7.30pm\nThursday 19 September 2024\, 7.30pm\nFriday 20 September 2024\, 7.30pm\nSaturday 21 September 2024\, 2.30pm\nSaturday 21 September 2024\, 7.30pm \nTickets\nAll priced at £16 (including booking fee) – available from Malvern Theatres online\, by phone on 01684 892277 or in person (this show is at the Coach House Theatre\, next door to Malvern Theatres) \nPlease note: Contains material that some people may find offensive. SUMMARY:Malvern Hills Cultural Walk
DESCRIPTION:Legendary fantasy authors JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis were frequent visitors to Malvern and the Malvern Hills and the distinctive landscape is thought to have inspired many features of Middle Earth and Narnia\, including the Giant’s Cave from The Hobbit and the Victorian gas lamps from The Lion\, the Witch & the Wardrobe. \nYou’ll choose between two routes\, the Tolkien Trail & the Lewis Loop\, both of which are outlined below. \nThe Tolkien Trail follows the main ridge south from the Wyche Cutting\, over several summits to the Giant’s Cave\, which is said to have inspired Tolkien’s first book\, The Hobbit. The trail then returns north\, with optional stops at the Malvern Hills Hotel and/or the Kettle Sings Cafe before ending where it began. \nThe Lewis Loop begins in Priory Park in Great Malvern and heads past Malvern College and Cherbourg House\, where Lewis went to school\, before pausing at the Lewis Memorial in Rosebank Gardens. Next it follows Narnia’s gas lamps up Happy Valley past St. Ann’s Well Cafe to the summit of North Hill before dropping down to Alexandra Road in Malvern Link\, where Lewis’s biographer\, George Sayer\, and composer Sir Edward Elgar lived. After passing Lewis and Tolkien’s favourite pub\, The Unicorn Inn on Belle Vue Terrace\, the loop ends at Great Malvern Priory\, home to what’s believed to be the original gas lamp. \nWhichever walk you choose\, you’ll hear tales of literary legends whilst savouring the most stunning views in the West Midlands. \nDates and booking\nThe walks are available on many dates\, often with the option of two start times on the same day. For more information\, including prices\, availability and to book. visit the Malvern Hills Cultural Walks page on Airbnb.
