SUMMARY:Claude Bourbon
DESCRIPTION:Ready for a unique and talented take on a wide range of musical traditions? Claude Bourbon is known across Europe and America for amazing guitar performances that take blues\, Spanish\, and classical stylings into uncharted territories. \nClaude’s inimitable style incorporates all five digits on each hand dancing independently but in unison\, plucking\, picking and strumming at such speed and precision that his fingers often seem to melt into a blur. \nThousands of people in the UK\, Europe and USA have enjoyed listening to this virtuoso and for the majority of his audience it is an experience that compels them to return again and again to hear and watch him play\, as his fingers lightly dance over the strings of his guitar and create a unique sound that is ’Claude’. \nSome of this guitarist’s influences allow us a fascinating insight into this remarkable musician: Paco De Lucia\, Deep Purple’s Richie Blackmore\, Joaquin Rodrigo\, JJ Cale\, JS Bach…. \nDoors open at 7pm; music starts at 8pm. \nTickets: £13.01 including booking fee – available online at Ticketsource

SUMMARY:Malvern Hills Cultural Walk
DESCRIPTION:Legendary fantasy authors JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis were frequent visitors to Malvern and the Malvern Hills and the distinctive landscape is thought to have inspired many features of Middle Earth and Narnia\, including the Giant’s Cave from The Hobbit and the Victorian gas lamps from The Lion\, the Witch & the Wardrobe. \nYou’ll choose between two routes\, the Tolkien Trail & the Lewis Loop\, both of which are outlined below. \nThe Tolkien Trail follows the main ridge south from the Wyche Cutting\, over several summits to the Giant’s Cave\, which is said to have inspired Tolkien’s first book\, The Hobbit. The trail then returns north\, with optional stops at the Malvern Hills Hotel and/or the Kettle Sings Cafe before ending where it began. \nThe Lewis Loop begins in Priory Park in Great Malvern and heads past Malvern College and Cherbourg House\, where Lewis went to school\, before pausing at the Lewis Memorial in Rosebank Gardens. Next it follows Narnia’s gas lamps up Happy Valley past St. Ann’s Well Cafe to the summit of North Hill before dropping down to Alexandra Road in Malvern Link\, where Lewis’s biographer\, George Sayer\, and composer Sir Edward Elgar lived. After passing Lewis and Tolkien’s favourite pub\, The Unicorn Inn on Belle Vue Terrace\, the loop ends at Great Malvern Priory\, home to what’s believed to be the original gas lamp. \nWhichever walk you choose\, you’ll hear tales of literary legends whilst savouring the most stunning views in the West Midlands. \nDates and booking\nThe walks are available on many dates\, often with the option of two start times on the same day. SUMMARY:Elgar's Forgotten Songs
DESCRIPTION:Elgar wrote many songs throughout his career. Many of them are hardly known today\, but they are all of great beauty and interest\, and we are showcasing some of the finest of them in our concert which will feature soprano Valerie Sherlock and bass/baritone Kieran Sherlock. \nProviding a narrative which will once again place each song in the context of Elgar’s life\, the talk will demonstrate that the intriguing thing about Elgar’s songs is that in every case he chose the words very carefully to reflect the events of his own life\, his relationships and his mood. Therefore they must always be regarded as autobiographical and Richard Westwood-Brookes’s talk will highlight this. \nThe concert/talk is being staged thanks to the very generous sponsorship of The Elgar Society. \nThis talk will take place on Sunday 8 December 2024 at 11am and 2pm. With just 60 tickets available per recital\, this will not be an event to miss. \nThis event is free\, but normal admission charges apply for the venue. Booking is essential.

For more information\, including prices\, availability and to book. visit the Malvern Hills Cultural Walks page on Airbnb.
