SUMMARY:Malvern’s Secret War Heroes
DESCRIPTION:Rachel Tobin’s play is set in the Bluebird Tearooms in Malvern during World War 2\, where the locals are wondering who these ‘outsiders’ are\, arriving in trucks with strange equipment set up in the back. \nThey wear spectacles and tweed jackets and the girls look as though they are just out of school. All they appear to do is wander around town\, in groups\, seemingly showing no interest whatsoever in joining the war effort. They are reluctant to say why they have appeared. \nAre they conscientious objectors\, petty criminals or what? Why have they arrived? Also\, why are they being billeted to local residents to accommodate them in their homes\, often against their wishes? \nAs the story unfolds all is eventually revealed. \nShow times\nSaturday 8 November 2025\, 5.30pm\nSaturday 8 November 2025\, 7.30pm

SUMMARY:Met: La Bohème
DESCRIPTION:The Met: Live in HD 2025–26 Season \nWith its enchanting setting and spellbinding score\, the world’s most popular opera\, Puccini’s La Bohème\, is as timeless as it is heartbreaking. Franco Zeffirelli’s picture-perfect production brings the setting of 19th-century Paris to life on the Met stage as Puccini’s young friends and lovers navigate the joy and struggle of bohemian life. Soprano Juliana Grigoryan is the feeble seamstress Mimì\, opposite tenor Freddie De Tommaso as the ardent poet Rodolfo. Keri-Lynn Wilson is the conductor for the performance on 8 November\, which is being transmitted live from the Met stage to cinemas worldwide\, including at Malvern Theatres.

SUMMARY:Malvern Hills Literary Loop: Tolkien\, Lewis\, Darwin & Dickens
DESCRIPTION:Legendary fantasy authors JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis were frequent visitors to the Malvern Hills around the middle of the 20th century and the distinctive landscape may have inspired features of Middle Earth and Narnia\, like the Giant’s Cave from the Hobbit and the Victorian gas lamps from The Lion\, the Witch & the Wardrobe. \nA century earlier\, authors Charles Darwin and Charles Dickens visited Malvern for the Water Cure and most of the treatment centres and guest houses still remain. \nThe Malvern Hills Literary Loop starts at the Mr. Tumnus bench in Priory Park and heads up past Knotsford House where Dickens stayed to Lewis’s former school Cherbourg House before pausing at the Lewis Memorial in Rosebank Gardens and following the gas lamps up to St. Ann’s Well cafe. \nAfter admiring the views around North Hill\, the trail descends to Alexandra Rd where Lewis’s close friend & biographer George Sayers lived\, opposite the former home of composer Edward Elgar. \nThe loop then heads up past Montreal House where Darwin stayed during his daughter’s treatment and past Lewis & Tolkien’s favourite pub The Unicorn Inn before passing the Hobbit door and down to Malvern Priory to find Anne Darwin’s grave and potentially the original Narnian gas lamp. \nDates and booking\nThe walks are available on many dates\, often with the option of two start times on the same day. For more information\, including prices\, availability and to book. visit the Malvern Hills Literary Loop: Tolkien\, Lewis\, Darwin & Dickens page on Airbnb.

SUMMARY:A l’Àbordage (12A) (Malvern French Film Centre)
DESCRIPTION:On a hot summer night in the French capital\, Félix meets a young woman\, Alma\, and falls in love. The next morning\, Alma boards a train to join her family in the beautiful Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of south eastern France. Félix\, committed to following his soulmate\, embarks on a carpool ride with his best friend Chérif and their reluctant driver Edouard. When the car breaks down upon arrival\, things turn sour: Alma doesn’t seem too impressed by this unexpected visit. \nThe French title is À L’Abordage\, more properly translated as ‘Attack!’\, yet the film moves with a deceptively easy swing and\, without ever seeming to try very hard\, covers a great deal of narrative ground\, incorporating a large cast of characters and allowing the audience to get to know them very well\, while all the time setting up the humour. Director Guillaume Brac and his co-writer Catherine Paillé\, along with their very young cast\, have created a treat about seizing the day and fortune favouring the bold. \nEnglish title: All Hands On Deck\nDirector: Guillaume Brac\nRelease date: 2020\nComedy\nRunning time: 1h 35mins\nCertificate: 12A\nFrench with English subtitles \nShow times\nSunday 9 November 2025\, 3.15pm\nSunday 9 November 2025\, 6.45pm
