SUMMARY:Malvern Hills Literary Loop: Tolkien\, Lewis\, Darwin and Dickens
DESCRIPTION:Legendary fantasy authors JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis were frequent visitors to the Malvern Hills around the middle of the 20th century and the distinctive landscape may have inspired features of Middle Earth and Narnia\, like the Giant’s Cave from The Hobbit and the Victorian gas lamps from The Lion\, the Witch & the Wardrobe. \nA century earlier\, authors Charles Darwin and Charles Dickens visited Malvern for the Water Cure and most of the treatment centres and guest houses still remain. \nThe Malvern Hills Literary Loop starts at the Mr. Tumnus bench in Priory Park and heads up past Knotsford House where Dickens stayed to Lewis’s former school Cherbourg House before pausing at the Lewis Memorial in Rosebank Gardens and following the gas lamps up to St. Ann’s Well cafe. \nAfter admiring the views around North Hill\, the trail descends to Alexandra Rd where Lewis’s close friend & biographer George Sayer lived\, opposite the former home of composer Edward Elgar. \nThe loop then heads up past Montreal House where Darwin stayed during his daughter’s treatment and past Lewis & Tolkien’s favourite pub The Unicorn Inn before passing the Hobbit door and down to Malvern Priory to find Anne Darwin’s grave and potentially the original Narnian gas lamp. \nDates and booking\nThe walks are available on many dates\, often with the option of two start times on the same day. For more information\, including prices\, availability and to book. visit the Malvern Hills Literary Loop: Tolkien\, Lewis\, Darwin & Dickens page on Airbnb.

SUMMARY:The Last One for the Road (15) (Borderlines Film Festival)

Fallen on hard times\, they survive on anecdotes and bar fare. If only they could dig up the cash their old pal Genio buried before he left for Argentina… and maybe they will! Right after that last drink. Taking sweet\, hapless architecture student Giulio under their grizzled wing\, the trio embark on a zestful road trip through the Venetian plains\, beautifully shot on grainy film. \nDIRECTOR: Francesco Sossai\nSTARRING: Filippo Scotti\, Sergio Romano\, Pierpaolo Capovilla\, Roberto Citran\nITALY/GERMANY\, 2025\n1 HOUR 40 MINUTES\nITALIAN + ENGLISH SUBTITLES \nShow times\nPlease note: Film starts at advertised time\nSunday 8 March 2026 at 6.45pm

SUMMARY:Meditation and Buddhism Class
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Adhisthana to meditate with others and develop your ability to work creatively with your mind. You can either learn to meditate from scratch and develop the foundations for a daily practice or join the regulars to build on what you know and discover how to apply yourself effectively in meditation. \nAs of December 2025\, classes are being held on Mondays from 7.30pm – 9.30pm and are open to participants of all levels of experience. Please note there is no class on 22 or 29 December 2025. \nYou are welcome to arrive 15 minutes before the start. You’ll be greeted at the entrance by someone who will direct you where to go and help you with any queries. \nThe class takes place in a room on the first floor and is\, as a consequence\, unfortunately not accessible. \nIn the first half of the session\, we meditate together; this is followed by a tea break. In the second half\, we learn about the teachings of the Buddha with the chance to engage in discussion and ask questions. \nThe class is led by a team of members of the Triratna Buddhist Order and those who are training for ordination. \nIf you would like more information\, you can call Adhisthana on 01531 641726 or email us (otherwise just turn up!).

SUMMARY:Rental Family (12A) (Borderlines Film Festival)
DESCRIPTION:Brendan Foster gives a sympathetic portrayal of a struggling American actor searching for a connection in Tokyo. \nPhillip Vanderpleog lives in the Japanese capital. Running out of work options\, he is employed by a ‘rental family’ company\, which provides clients with actors who stand in for absent loved ones. Sceptical at first\, Phillip discovers in these roles\, opportunities and relationships previously missing from his life. However\, the line between performance and reality becomes increasingly blurred\, as Phillip immerses himself a little too much in the roles he is hired to play. Full of visual comedy\, this is a heart-warming film that embodies the human need to make attachments. \nDIRECTOR: Hikari\nSTARRING: Brendan Fraser\, Takehiro Hira\, Mari Yamamoto\, Shannon Mahina Gorman\, Akira Emoto.\nUS\, 2025\n1 HOUR 50 MINUTES\nJAPANESE/ENGLISH + ENGLISH SUBTITLES \nShow times\nPlease note: Film starts at advertised time\nFriday 6 March 2026 at 2.00pm – Cinema\nTuesday 10 March 2026 at 1.30pm – Studio One

SUMMARY:Peter Hujar’s Day (12A) (Borderlines Film Festival)
DESCRIPTION:Ben Whishaw and Rebecca Hall star in Ira Sachs’ richly cinematic rendering of a real conversation between iconic photographer Peter Hujar and writer and artist Linda Rosenkrantz. \nIn 1974\, photographer Peter Hujar describes the routines and rituals that define an artist’s life with wit and spontaneity\, capturing a single day’s activities from interactions with cultural icons of the day\, including Allen Ginsberg\, William S. Burroughs and Susan Sontag and the texture and energy of downtown New York in its heyday. Elegant and intimate\, this is both a masterful portrait of a time and place\, and a captivating film about the way art emerges from the intimate details of everyday life. \nDIRECTOR: Ira Sachs\nSTARRING: Rebecca Hall\, Ben Whishaw\nUS/GERMANY/UK/SPAIN\n1 HOUR 16 MINUTES\nENGLISH \nShow times\nPlease note: Film starts at advertised time\nFriday 6 March 2026 at 2.15pm – Studio One\nTuesday 10 March 2026 at 1.45pm – Cinema

SUMMARY:Resurrection (15) (Borderlines Film Festival)
DESCRIPTION:Virtuoso Chinese director Bi Gan (Long Day’s Journey Into Night) returns with a film that heralds the death of cinema while magnificently celebrating it. \nSpanning a century\, Resurrection divides into six chapters\, each taking place in a specific cinematic era and genre\, from actualities\, through expressionism and noir to the vampire film. In the future\, humans have attained immortality – as long as they don’t dream. The dissident or Deliriant (Jackson Yee) shapeshifts as he time-travels through an odyssey that keeps pace with Chinese history. Unlike anything else\, this striking ode to the power of cinema has sequences that are absolutely breathtaking. It cries out for the big screen; sit back and dare to dream deliriously. \nDIRECTOR: Bi Gan\nSTARRING: Jackson Yee\, Shu Qi\nCHINA/FRANCE\, 2025\n2 HOUR 39 MINUTES\nCHINESE + ENGLISH SUBTITLES
