SUMMARY:Malvern Theatres Young Company: We Will Rock You
DESCRIPTION:Malvern Theatres Young Company presents Queen and Ben Elton’s worldwide smash-hit musical We Will Rock You. \nSet in a post-apocalyptic future where individuality has been outlawed and music is dictated by algorithms\, the story tracks two young revolutionaries who dare to defy the system to save rock ‘n’ roll. \nThis fist-pumping\, foot-stomping anthem to freedom and self-expression is a musical for our time —unapologetically bold and filled with the timeless power of Queen’s legendary music\, featuring more than 20 iconic hits\, including Bohemian Rhapsody\, We Are the Champions\, Somebody to Love\, Don’t Stop Me Now and\, of course\, We Will Rock You. \nAfter the huge success of last year’s production of Jesus Christ Superstar\, this gifted young company returns under the direction and choreography of Andy Reiss and Katie Leeming of Beyond the Barricade to offer a lively\, inventive take on this explosive\, rock-infused spectacle – showing the power of music and individuality and leaving crowds cheering for more. \nAge recommendation: suitable for 10 years + \nShow times\nTuesday 18 August 2026\, 7pm\nWednesday 19 August 2026\, 7pm\nThursday 20 August 2026\, 2pm\nThursday 20 August 2026\, 7pm\nFriday 21 August 2026\, 7pm\nSaturday 22 August 2026\, 2pm\nSaturday 22 August 2026\, 7pm

SUMMARY:Rossini’s 'Petite Messe Solennelle' (Great Malvern Festival of Singing)
DESCRIPTION:Witty\, radiant\, devout\, and disarmingly human\, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle stands as one of the great paradoxes of sacred music. Written late in the composer’s life\, after decades of operatic triumph\, it is a work in which theatrical flair and heartfelt devotion sit side by side – music of charm\, depth\, and irresistible vitality. \nDespite its modest title\, the Petite Messe Solennelle is anything but small in imagination. From the hushed intensity of the ‘Kyrie’ to the exuberant brilliance of the ‘Gloriaand’ the serenity of the ‘Agnus Dei’\, Rossini combines soaring vocal lines\, luminous choral writing\, and moments of intimate reflection with flashes of unmistakable operatic sparkle. Sacred text is infused with warmth\, wit\, and a deeply personal sense of faith. \nThis performance brings together the Chorus of the Great Malvern Festival of Singing with a superb quartet of soloists: Penglei Liang (soprano)\, Alison Kettlewell (alto)\, Roberto Ortiz (tenor)\, and Simon Thorpe (bass). Together they present Rossini’s extraordinary score under the direction of Jeff Stewart\, in the glowing acoustic of the Chapel of Malvern College. \nAt once joyful and contemplative\, playful and profound\, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle offers a unique concert experience – sacred music that smiles\, sings\, and speaks directly to the heart. It is the perfect culmination to a festival that celebrates the many faces of choral expression. \nTickets\n£15 – available to book online
