SUMMARY:The Sound of Music
DESCRIPTION:Our Star Theatre Company makes a much-anticipated return to Malvern Theatres with Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II‘s timeless classic The Sound of Music. This is their 5th community musical and follows their hugely successful and acclaimed productions in the Forum Theatre of Fiddler on the Roof (2024) and Evita (2025). \nThe final collaboration between Rodgers and Hammerstein was destined to become the world’s most beloved musical. In Austria\, 1938\, an exuberant young governess brings music and joy back to a broken family\, only to face danger and intrigue as the Nazis gain power. The inspirational story\, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp\, follows an ebullient postulate who serves as governess to the seven children of the imperious Captain von Trapp\, bringing music and joy to the household. But as the forces of Nazism take hold of Austria\, Maria and the entire von Trapp family must make a moral decision. \nShow times\nWednesday 5 August 2026\, 7pm\nThursday 6 August 2026\, 7pm\nFriday 7 August 2026\, 7pm\nSaturday 8 August 2026\, 2pm\nSaturday 8 August 2026\, 7pm

SUMMARY:Why Knot? (Ink & Curtain Festival)
DESCRIPTION:Why Knot? by Steve Burford \nLove is love. But can there be a ‘happily ever after’ without an ‘I do’ at the start? \nDave and Vince have been a couple for over a decade. Life is good and as straightforward as it gets for gay men – until the Friday night Dave brings home Tony\, a heart-broken\, straight friend\, and questions long thought answered and forgotten raise their heads again. \nIs a civil partnership just a piece of paper – like a parking ticket? \nIs marriage really just the same thing but with posher clothes and more confetti? \nWill Tony ever find out why his only girlfriend has dumped him? \nWill Vince and Dave’s relationship survive the disruption to their Friday routine and the support of their fag hags? \nAnd will Vince ever see an Hawaiian pizza again? \nSteve Burford’s new comedy faces the difficult questions and asks – ‘Why Knot?’ \nShow times\nWednesday 5 August 2026\, 7.30pm\nThursday 6 August 2026\, 7.30pm\nFriday 7 August 2026\, 7.30pm\nSaturday 8 August 2026\, 2.30pm\nSaturday 8 August 2026\, 7.30pm \nTickets\n£16 (including booking fee) – available from the Malvern Theatres website or the box office on 01684 892277

SUMMARY:Exhibition: Romancing the 18th Century from Rococo to Stage
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition opens Friday 29 May and runs until Saturday 26 September 2026 \nIn collaboration with the Malvern Theatre Players\, this exhibition will combine the museum’s collection with costume. \nWith the recent success of other exhibitions at the V&A focusing on Mary Antoinette\, both the real woman and the 2006 film\, we take a closer at look at why this period is so often romanticised. \nFrom extreme silhouette to powered wigs\, why can’t we get enough of 18th century fashion? \nThe Museum of Fashion Malvern is open every Friday and Saturday\, 10am – 4pm.

DESCRIPTION:About the walk\nDiscover the rich heritage of one of England’s most charming spa towns\, famed for its invigorating Water Cure. \nJoin one of Malvern Civic Society’s volunteer guides to trace the town’s evolution\, from a 19th century spa destination\, to its role in World War II as an important centre for secret radar development. SUMMARY:Malvern Hills Literary Loop: Tolkien\, Lewis\, Darwin and Dickens
DESCRIPTION:Legendary fantasy authors JRR Tolkien and CS Lewis were frequent visitors to the Malvern Hills around the middle of the 20th century and the distinctive landscape may have inspired features of Middle Earth and Narnia\, like the Giant’s Cave from The Hobbit and the Victorian gas lamps from The Lion\, the Witch & the Wardrobe. \nA century earlier\, authors Charles Darwin and Charles Dickens visited Malvern for the Water Cure and most of the treatment centres and guest houses still remain. \nThe Malvern Hills Literary Loop starts at the Mr. Tumnus bench in Priory Park and heads up past Knotsford House where Dickens stayed to Lewis’s former school Cherbourg House before pausing at the Lewis Memorial in Rosebank Gardens and following the gas lamps up to St. Ann’s Well cafe. \nAfter admiring the views around North Hill\, the trail descends to Alexandra Rd where Lewis’s close friend & biographer George Sayer lived\, opposite the former home of composer Edward Elgar. \nThe loop then heads up past Montreal House where Darwin stayed during his daughter’s treatment and past Lewis & Tolkien’s favourite pub The Unicorn Inn before passing the Hobbit door and down to Malvern Priory to find Anne Darwin’s grave and potentially the original Narnian gas lamp. \nDates and booking\nThe walks are available on many dates\, often with the option of two start times on the same day. For more information\, including prices\, availability and to book. visit the Malvern Hills Literary Loop: Tolkien\, Lewis\, Darwin & Dickens page on Airbnb

SUMMARY:A Nettle Immersion #2
DESCRIPTION:A second run of the Nettle Immersion\, the same but completely different! \nFlowing in harmony with the turning of the year\, in spring\, the leaf taught us about nourishment; now\, in summer\, the focus turns to the blossom and seed. The blossom teaches us about boundaries\, and the seed teaches us about sustenance. \nA concentrated\, high-impact sensory journey where participants will experience the full transformation of the nettle from sustenance to sacredness where the boundaries between plant\, performer\, and participant dissolve. A Japanese-style tea ceremony unfolds. The air hums with nettle music – an otherworldly soundscape generated by electrodes attached to living nettle plants (pre-recorded)\, transforming the plant’s own bio-electrical rhythms into an ambient\, haunting score. The Nettle Epoch poem will be recited with quiet intensity – each word landing like a seed in dark soil. Afterwards\, a brief synopsis of the nettle’s gifts will emerge. Then the transformation completes and each participant receives a personal blessing with nettle flower essence – a subtle remedy carrying the plant’s signature of resilience and fierce protection; nettle seed energy balls to taste\, earthy and sweet\, proof that fear can become nourishment. Each participant will leave with the quiet knowing that they have crossed a threshold and emerged changed\, initiated into the Nettle Tribe. \nSuitable for adults and young people (aged 12 plus). \nShow times\nSaturday 8 August 2026\, 11am\nSaturday 8 August 2026\, 12pm\nSaturday 8 August 2026\, 1pm\nSaturday 8 August 2026\, 2pm \nTickets\n£9.76 including booking fee – available to book online at Ticketsource
